In “Desiree’s Baby” by Kate Chopin and “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, Desiree Valmonde and Mary Maloney are two smitten housewives living in two different eras of time; Desiree lives in the time of slavery while Mary seems to live around the ‘50s. Although there are years in time difference, both women are willing to wait on hand and foot for their husbands.
