Curly Hair is Possible Having extremely curly hair is very hard to manage. Most women turn to straightening or putting a perm in their hair so that it is easier for them to manage: “For a long time I struggled to make my hair straight because I could never find a product that I liked enough to leave it curly…” (“Maryann”). Not only does this quote show how women struggle with their curly hair, but it shows how hard it is to find a hair product that “works”. This means that the product gives your hair volume, keeps your curls defined and keeps your frizz under control. Not only does this product have to “work”, it has to be affordable. You have to get your money’s worth. Also no sticky residue should be left on your hand or hair and no build up should be left behind. TREsemme Flawless Curls European Curl Enhancing Mousse, Suave Maximum Hold Gel, Sunsilk Captivating Curls Scrunching Mousse and L’Oreal Tightly Wound Curl Boosting Spray Gel all “work”, are affordable. You get your money’s worth and you are not left with a sticky residue, but the fact that no build up is left after using Sunsilk Captivating Curls Scrunching Mousse is what makes it the best choice to use on curly hair. TREsemme Flawless Curls European Curl Enhancing Mousse, Suave Maximum Hold Gel, Sunsilk Captivating Curls Scrunching Mousse and L’Oreal Tightly Wound Curl Boosting Spray Gel all “work”. Like I stated before, “work” means that the product keeps your curls defined, keeps your frizz under control and gives your hair great volume throughout the day. After reading so many different reviews from women with curly hair, I found that these three things are what make up the task that most women in America with curly hair want accomplished when choosing a hair product (“Maryann”). When a hair product can complete this task, women appreciate their curly hair more (“Maryann”). I also noticed that most women turn to straightening their curls because it

Women have all kinds of personal reasons for wanting to wear the curly weave hairstyles. One of the top reasons is to give their natural hair a break. In other words, they are tired of manipulating their hair with combs, brushes, dryers, curlers, straightening irons. Giving the hair a chance to relax is also a good way to keep their own natural hair healthy. Curly weave hairstyles are also much more natural looking on the black woman. The textures range from very kinky to a more relaxed curl look. One thing to remember is that the curly weaves require more maintenance than their straighter counterparts. You will have to take extra care to make sure that they do not get tangled. Take extra care in washing, conditioning, and drying. This is especially true for the woman that opts for the sew in human hair weave or bonded weaves. Fortunately, there are plenty of products to help women maintain a fresh and curly weave hairstyle for a longer time. Whether you are wearing the short crop long or long sexy curls, curly weave hairstyles are definitely here to…

Both Sonja Tanner’s “On Plato’s Cave” and Margaret Atwood’s “The Writer’s Responsibility” focus on the juxtaposition between the real and the imagined; A, however, suggests that it is, in fact, society’s ignorance and willingness to ignore the relationship between the real and the imagined that leads to the writer’s responsibility to make the relationship clear, while T highlights that the relationship is strained and obscured and that the responsibility is on the individual to forge the connections between the real and the imagined.…

“Once More to the Lake” written by E.B White and “An American Childhood” by Annie Dillard are both essays that reminisce about both authors’ childhood experiences. In the novel “Once More to the Lake”, White talks about his favorite spot during his childhood years where he would visit with his family once a month every year. In “An American Childhood” Dillard talks about growing up with her mother and the memories they shared together. Despite the differences between these two novels both authors talk about their childhood using symbolism, metaphors, personifications and many other literary devices.…

When comparing and contrasting the poem “What It's Like to Be a Black Girl” by Patricia Smith with the short story “Country Lovers” By Nadine Gordimer. The character in “What It's Like to Be a Black Girl” is based more upon recent time while “Country Lovers” is based in a older time frame. However, both stories are uniquely about wanting to be loved. The poem and the short story are both great examples of the difficulty of life between two different ethnic backgrounds. While one concentrates more on tragedy the other is faced more with acceptance that leads to tragedy. Love although can't be explained, has many explanations to how one can love. Whether your love goes as deep as loving through tragic times or looking for someone to love you at all times. Both of these stories focus on issues of racism, inner struggles, slavery, prejudice, and the pursuit of freedom as well as equality. At the end, everyone wants and needs to be accepted and will do whatever it takes.…

The most interesting short stories that caught my undivided attention were: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot” by Robert Olen Butler. These stories were both fascinating and intriguing in the sense that they made me feel like if I was the actual character. You could feel the pain and anguish the characters felt, even the desperation. It got to a point that I felt pity for the protagonist whom in both stories where narrating. Here we can see how someone can feel so desperate that they think the only way out is by taking their lives. Both Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Robert Olen Butler created an incredible form of fiction that makes you question if the scenes in the stories can truly happen in reality.…

Everyday, stereotype is used in the society. Sometimes, when people use stereotype on other people, they don’t even recognize it because it’s so common and is ignored by the society. It’s a way to judge people through their common believes based on ethnicity, gender, skin color, appearance and language of the people who are being judged. For example, when people see a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s just migrated to America, they would assume that she will be working in a nail salon and flirt with some rich guys to get married with. Being stereotype is difficult deal with, and it’s really offended and hurtful. “The Myth of the Latin woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer and “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan share some common and different stereotypes that they had to go through. In the story “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I just met a Girl Named Maria”, Judith Cofer wrote about her experiences being stereotyped as a Latin woman. In “Mother Tongue,” Amy shared her personal experiences being stereotyped with her language’s barrier. Even though the two female authors shared the similarity for being stereotyped by the society, they faced different situations on the way they were stereotyped.…
