Compare and Contrast
The Comparison I often compare and contrast a lot of different things. I compare TV shows like: Friends and That 70’s Show, Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn. I also compare athletes like: Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, Ray Allen and James Harden. This time I am going to compare two big time movie stars who who’s specialties are action movies. Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock”, and Vin Diesel are these two hardcore, excessively masculine actors. I am about to explain why both men are alike and different in many ways. First, and foremost, this is probably the biggest comparison my friends and I make while hanging out. Almost everyone we ask thinks that “The Rock” is superior including me, but there are a few who think otherwise. So let’s make a quick few examples of how they are alike and different. You can decide who the superior of the two is after we jot down some facts. To start things off, we are going to find out what both of these actors have in common. The Rock and Vin Diesel are both huge names in the movie industry and have many big movies that made millions in the box office. Some hit movies that “The Rock” starred in are: Fast Five, Doom, Snitch, Gridiron Gang, and Tooth Fairy. Some hit movies Vin Diesel starred in are: Fast Five, Chronicles of Riddick, The Pacifier, Babylon A.D., and XXX. They both play in movies that portray them as men you do not want to mess with. They also are big buff men who happen to be athletic. More on their similarities, they both were born in the U.S. and went to college. Ladies all around the world think that both men are incredibly handsome. Both actors have tattoos that represent something sentimental to them. They are both in their 40’s and were married at one point in their life. Both men also have some type of experience in fighting. Now, we get to the differences. “The Rock” has starred in more movies than Vin Diesel has. Vin Diesel is older and won the fight between him and “The Rock” in Fast Five. “The

I have come to look at all of the actors, and one stood out amongst the rest because of his many achievements throughout his life. The actor I am talking about is Robert Downey Jr. I really got to see the potential of his acting in one of my favorite movies which is Iron Man. He was born April, 4 1965 in New York. He is currently 50 years old, and still has lot of achievements ahead of him. Robert Downey Jr. got his career started at the age of 5, and played roles as Ian in the movie Weird Science during 1985. He is a great actor which shows for how much he is paid in many movie roles. Robert Downey Jr. used to abuse substances which was shocking for me to hear. It did not affect the view I had for him. Robert Downey Jr. is an inspiration to many because of his achievements and the fact that he is an…

Although some would say that Scorsese has replaced DeNiro with Leo, and so we might as well do so too, history will take quite a while, if at all, before this pairing can be overwritten. No other pair has in contemporary times redefined cinema as much as these two. Four of the nine films they have collaborated on, “Mean Streets” (1973), “Taxi Driver” (1976), “Raging Bull” (1980) and “GoodFellas” (1990) are considered to be amongst the greatest films ever made. Raging Bull earned De Niro his only Academy Award for Best…

The baker in “A Small Good Thing” by Raymond Carver caught my attention from the beginning of the story. He was abrupt with Ann, but it felt like there were reasons that would be explained soon why he was this way. The initial impression I got from him wasn’t likeable but as I got further into the story, there was a spark of compassion in this man that I could relate to. The bakers harassing tendencies and social isolation as a person are not traits I exhibit, where as his strong sense of compassion and emotion is where I can relate more to.…
