He announced that there will be a contest whereby children who finds the five Golden Tickets will be given a tour around the factory and will have the chance to win the unknown grand prize. Four of the five tickets are found quickly; the greedy and gluttonous Augustus Gloop from Düsseldorf; the spoiled and rotten Veruca Salt from London; the competitive and boastful Violet Beauregarde from Atlanta; and the arrogant and aggressive Mike Teavee from Denver. On the other hand, Charlie who was walking on the streets found a money and quickly bought a chocolate bar. And when he opened it, he was surprised when the Golden Ticket was inside. When he and his Grandpa Joe toured around, they were amazed on how fantastical the factory was. But as they go to each stations, the four children were tempted and ended up being caught in the factory workings. Charlie who was the only remaining child receives the grand prize, the heir to Wonka’s company.

It is full of lessons and has humor. I like the setting maybe because of what Tim Burton did while filming the movie, he said that he avoided using digital effects most of the time because he wants the young actors to feel as if they were working in a realistic environment. And seeing the animals used in the movie was real makes me more excited. Like how did they do that, how long did they train the animals, what kind of techniques did they use and many questions came up to my mind. The rating wasn’t perfect because of the poor graphics and the not-so-high quality effects. Maybe because they focused on the scale models and oversized props, but nonetheless the movie was great and fun to watch. It was entertaining and funny.

Americans dietary habitats have been under close criticism, and media coverage has been very prominent in this critique, analyzing the way in which Americans have been eating. Through examples that stretch from nutritionists’ opinions to food labels our perceptions of good dietary habits have been largely skewed. The Food and Drug Administration has not been warning the public sufficiently about the harmful affects of the foods we consume. One of the most prominent, controversial, substances is sugar, which is also known as sucrose and fructose. Sugar is considered to be an under rated food that many consume without even thinking about what they are actually putting into their bodies. Through these two articles the reader is informed that sugar can be both “poisonous” and “deadly”. With the consumption of sugar rising, obesity rates are subsequently rising. In examining the impact of sugar on our health one may read, “The Toxic Truth About Sugar” written by Robert Lusting, Laura Schmidt and Clair Brindis, published in Nature volume 482 in February 2012 and “Is Sugar Toxic” by Gary Taubes, published in the New York Times Magazine on April 17, 2011. These two articles examine why individuals over consume sugar and the way in which individuals over consume sugar. All the while each article seemingly points out different solutions or potential solutions to the way in which the world should go about addressing this issue.…

The Toyota and the Jeep are two huge brands in automotive today. Both ads can be seen in magazines all over the world. The Toyota Tundra ad can be found in Field & Stream Magazine while the Jeep Compass can be found in Men’s Health Magazine. The Toyota Tundra ad and the Jeep Compass ad are similar in numerous ways. Each vehicle is placed appropriately on the page so they’re impossible to miss and catch the reader’s attention. They are both metaphorically described in bold lettering. Both ads have different and unique backgrounds to make the vehicles stand out. Advertising is a way to attract the public’s attention, which in this case, the Toyota Tundra ad probably wants to attract people who need a heavy duty and powerful vehicle. The story begins, “clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day” (Jackson 1). The author sets the bright, joyful mood for the lottery, an annual tradition held in the village. “The children assembled first,” (1) gathering to play together. Jackson describes the children “selecting the smoothest and roundest stones” (1) for what the reader might think could be any children’s game. The excited nature of the children encourages the reader to read with ease and happiness, although, further on in the story, the author completely changes the perspective of the reader. When the reader is introduced to the “prize” of the lottery, the reason the children were collecting…

Kate Chopin, as a writer, is well known for her literature work about the limited perception that the nineteenth-century society had on the female gender. During that time, people were very restrictive about the views of a woman?s place in the society. Furthermore, women of that era did not have voice of their own. They were made to believe that their role in the society was to serve their husbands. In the stories, The Storm and The Story of an Hour, Chopin portrays how this restrictive perspective of women affected them and their views about life and marriage. The settings of the two stories are drastically…

There are many versions to the famous fairy tale Cinderella. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s German version of Cinderella, “Aschenputtel,” is a household story of a young girl named Cinderella who eventually marries a prince. This specific version of Cinderella gave birth to the Walt Disney version of Cinderella that most Americans know today. However the stories are very different. The Grimm brothers’ version is much darker and gory then the classic American version. Small differences like this shed a different light on Cinderella and her journey to a “happy” ending.…
