Common Courtesy Case Study
In 2016, WellCare partnered with Common Courtesy in the metropolitan area of Atlanta and Community Partners in Coffee County to fund a transportation initiative targeted at disabled individuals and diabetic seniors. The first part of the collaboration created a transportation system to increase access to healthcare for those unable to operate vehicles safely. The initiative utilized several providers, including Uber, Lyft, and wheelchair accessible vans as transportation options. As a result of the initiative, Common Courtesy was able to provide 53 rides covering a thousand miles in distance, and WellCare members accounted for 49% of the rides provided.
