ABC, Inc. did not provide enough supervision and guidance for their new campus recruiter, Carl Robins, who has only been in his position for six months. Monica Carrolls, as the operations supervisor, should have followed up on her conversation with Carl instead of assuming that everything was ready for the orientation training. As a new recruiter, Carl should have started preparing earlier for the orientation training to make sure everything could be completed in time and ask for help if he needed it. Because of lack of planning and scheduling, the training must be postponed until July when the training room will be available.

Background

ABC, Inc. had a new campus recruiter, Carl Robins, with only six months on the job. His

The first problem, the training room is already booked for June 15. The easiest solution for this problem would probably be to move the training date to the first week in July when the training room would be available. Another solution would be to rent a training room at another facility to accommodate the training needs for June 15.

Carl's second problem was forgetting to set up appointments for the new trainees to be tested for drugs. To resolve this problem, he could contact the clinic and see if he could schedule all the trainees to be tested within the next week. Then he would need to call all the new trainees and have them come in and review their files, making corrections to the applications and bringing in their transcripts.

Another problem would be the lack of a complete orientation training manuals. This is something the company should never be without. A complete manual would have to be sent to the printers, whether in house or out sourced, the manual would have to be completed before the training on the June 15.

The earlier you can arrive to prepare for the session the better; you may need to set up IT equipment before the trainees arrive. Prepare the room for the session, for activities tables may need to be re-arranged, flip charts moved or they may need to use a Wi-Fi hub. Handouts may need to be positioned ready along with exercises and the resources that are going to be used. Good preparation will allow the session to run more smoothly and look more professional, usually the trainer feels more comfortable and relaxed when they have had prep time (or at least I do).…

The function of a CV is to serve as a self-marketing tool in an individuals search for a job. It could be argued that the way in which a CV communicates the suitability of a job candidate is through the effective use of Impression Management. IM refers to the tactics people use in order to elicit a desired impression from an audience, these tactics can be said to be either conscious or unconscious (Schlenker, 1980, p.6). As part of the Professional Development module, this assignment will be focused on the analysis and evaluation of two fictitious and competing CV 's and their accompanying cover letters. I will critically evaluate not only the appropriate skills both these applicants possess but also the suitability and effectiveness of their CV 's. The CV 's belong to Harvinda Patil and James Davis who are both applying for a placement position within the Psychology Department at Goldsmith, University of London.
