Comedy Essay
Memories will never fade. A lot of people in today’s generation are easily embarrassed. Sensitivity can be the reason why, or it can just be one did something very stupid. Some people just don’t seem to get embarrassed because they just see the funny side to it. I was asked to write about a funny moment I have experienced while being on the Bar-Ilan one-year program. When I think about it, I definitely have a sense of humor, however, I have an inner feeling that lacks satisfaction. Satisfaction can be sustained if I had some moment that was so embarrassing it would make me laugh hysterically.
Now, before I tell you about my moment, I want to tell you the reason behind it. Out of all the joyous and comical times I have had in my life, I have come to the conclusion that the best ones have come following an extremely embarrassing moment. So my moment with Bar-Ilan came just a few weeks ago, on the way to Greg’s cafe, hoping to grab a bite and socialize. For some reason, I over slept by a few minutes that morning, resulting in me missing the bus. I couldn't miss class that day because I was previously sick and missed a few days. So I grabbed my skateboard and headed out. When class adjourned, I received a text from a friend saying, “Simon, we’re eating outside Greg’s you should stop by.” I got excited. After a long class, all I wanted was to hang out with friends. I replied “Ok. I’m coming.” I got on my skateboard and was on my way.
So now comes the embarrassing part. Just before I arrive at Greg’s, I decide to try and jump on to the curb, hoping to show off to my friends sitting just outside. To my surprise, I didn't kick hard enough and was unable to clear the gap. I fell flat on my face, rolling around on the curb, destroying my face and wrecking my shirt. EVERYONE laughed! I was so embarrassed. If this had happened to anyone else, they most definitely would have been embarrassed beyond words.
