Instructor: Rebecca DiVerniero
November 3rd, 2014

The ability to identify my overall communication skills can enhance my relationships with in my workplace, personal life as well as my intimate relationship. By using theories such as Maslow's
Hierarchy Theory and the “Onion Theory” I will be able to strengthen my communication skills and psychological perspectives. Obtaining skills can be done by hands on learning, obtaining verbal training, past experiences and through conversations with others who I surrounds myself with.
Everyone goes through stages in their life when their skills and abilities are questioned by themselves.
In this paper I will perform a complete assessment which will identify The assignment at hand is to describe my overall interpersonal, group and organizational communication skills as well as reflecting on theories and/or models studied in this course.
Having a clear understanding of interpersonal communication verses dyadic communication is very important when addressing people individually and/or a group. Interpersonal communication is how we address individuals that we come in contact with. Dyadic communication is when two individuals are face to face and can be defined as personal and direct. Psychological perspective is how we perceive others and their actions by the way of communicating. My ultimate goal is to make sure my form of communication is accurate when in interpersonal relationships, group settings and in the workplace.
Overall I am a very assertive, motivational and driven individual at home and in the workplace. I have always believed that you should be the same person at work, at home and in the public eye in regards to personality and communicating. Over the years my theory has changed, I am more relaxed and sociable at home where I am able to share intimate moments with my family. I am more comical with my family and friends

The other definition is called qualitative. This interaction also takes place between two people, but is defined by its six separate factors, rather than the number of people involved. Qualitative communications must be unique, irreplaceable, interdependent, involve disclosure of personal information or feelings, have intrinsic rewards, and be fairly scarce. These types of communications are said to happen only five times in a lifetime, although I think it would be more accurate to suggest that an individual has only five qualitative relationships at any given time. A person may have a qualitative relationship with a family member, best friend, significant other, or any person they enjoy spending time with and would like to continue to be involved with.…

There are many elements in the communication realm and I never would have thought that they fit somewhere in my life; however, I learned differently. I experience source-receiver every day when I talk to my husband about his day at work or just playing with my boys. Encoding-decoding is done daily as well when I instruct my four-year-old to complete a task and I know when he completes it, he has decoded what I instructed him to do. I experience competence every day as well in the form of communication I use with my husband vs. my children. When I put myself together to go out because I want to look presentable to others, I am giving them the message that I care about how I look because I want to make a good first impression. When I am on Facebook daily; I am channeling my friends and family when I post messages for them to read. Context comes in my free time, when I have a chance to glimpse through a magazine; I will most likely read cover articles than any of the others. This is a physical dimension of context. My youngest son sees the Dr. monthly, and she uses doctor jargon, which is difficult to comprehend which is a form of noise. I learned ethics from a very young age; I was taught to respect my elders, talk politely, and listen. I realize all these elements incorporate in my life somehow I will take them into account more often.…

A challenge for me is my more reserved demeanor. Although I provide input to others when asked, I often hesitate to express my opinion first. With awareness of this I push myself to be more assertive, take initiative and not question myself internally. On a daily basis in the field of child protection I am challenged with a multitude of situations that I must prioritize in order to move forward; this requires me to stay focused and put the child's safety first in order to determine what is in the best interest of the child. Through these…

A strength that I learned stated on the Myers-Briggs assessment is that I am an innovative thinker and excellent problem solver. I find this to be true because whether it is conflict at home, school, work, within myself, or with another individual, I’ve always been able to smooth out differences. Working as a supervisor for a high-end commission-based retail store conflicts occasionally arise. I’ve learned to develop reflective-awareness where I consider my behavior as I observe it. The second communication concept I feel could use some reshaping would be, forming social perceptions. I feel like this is another concept we all could use some work on. Quantitative: any interaction between two people usually face to face. Social scientists call two people interacting a dyad , and they often use the adjective dyadic to describe this type of communication. So, in a quantitative sense, the terms dyadic communication and interpersonal communication can be used interchangeably. Using a quantitative definition, a salesclerk and customer or a police officer ticketing a speeding driver would be examples of interpersonal acts, whereas a preacher and class or a performer and audience would not.…
