Part A I have chosen to discus Colonialism of North America. From the very beginning it was a race between Spain and England to see who would colonize North America. While the Spanish were first England was shown to be the ultimate victor in the race. I have chosen to focus on the colonization of the New World through England. Although there were other countries involved England was the most influential. Some of the reasons why England decided to colonize North America was for wealth, expanded traded, more territory, and to spread Christianity. They brought items such as rice, sugar, tea, coffee, pigs, cows, religious viewpoints, and the not so positive disease with them.. In order to colonize the Americas the British had to cultivate the land. They came into a rather barren space and they had to set up their own settlements. They left a hard life behind only to find a much harder life but at least this life had the possibility of a better life was with in reach. Life was hard for the original settlers in America. The land was harsh and many settlers found themselves ill prepared for the journey at hand. Unbelievable the Colony continued to grow. It can be argued that it wasn’t as much the population growing because of internal repopulating but instead from more settlers traveling and setting up residence in the colony. The reasons why citizens continued to flee to North America could be the saw the money being made for tobacco sales, the promise of free land, or religious freedom. Europe received goods from the New World as well. Settlers traveled back to Europe bearing gifts of corn, white potatoes, pumpkins, squash, tobacco, turkeys, rattle snakes, buffalo, and raccoons. They also unwittingly brought back Syphilis. As much as Europe was gaining from the exploration of this new land the indigenous people of the area were losing exponentially.
