Right now is a good time to invest in the marketplace. For residential properties, the price is expected to advance by 3 percent during the next year. Currently, the town has an average price per square foot of $309. This is significantly higher than the Boston Metro average of $263 and represents the more affluent nature of the homes. The median listing price is currently at $865,000, but the sale price is only $705,000. For investors, this represents a huge potential for buying a house at a below-market price and waiting for it to increase in value.…

Another reason for the difference in development of the two societies was the settlers each of them attracted. The main difference lies in the orientation of the settlers. New England attracted entire families of settlers including men, women, and children, while the Chesapeake regions like Virginia primarily gathered young single men who were not related to each other (Document 2 and 3). The final reason why these societies turned out very different was that their economies were vastly different. The Puritan government and economy bordered on the line of communism, while the Chesapeake economy was extremely capitalistic. In the Articles of Agreement, drawn up in New England in 1636, it is stated that “every inhabitant shall have a convenient…

After carefully examining your OPVL on the excerpt, “Gender, Work, and Wage in Colonial New England”, I could find no faults in how it was written. Your origin statement covers all necessary bases (author, primary v. secondary, date of creation) and even ventures further by including a small description of what the source covers. You then transition into extending your source description in your purpose statement. While reading, I became drawn in by what you had stated in your purpose statement, the idea that women at the time had done the opposite of what historians would have expected. Your value was extremely analytical and detailed, as you were able to point out all in which the source had to offer. Lastly, your limitation in itself would…

The Thirteen Colonels of America have been working on this new idea of Democracy, while still under the British rule. The colonists in Maryland created the Assembly of Maryland, "Where in document 1, they created a law to protect ever form of Christianity and allow them to practice it," as well, "it prevents people of one form of Christianity from going out and attacking another person, who is practicing a different form of Christianity," (Citizen Legislators and Toleration). That was one of the first things that this new Democracy in America has achieved in their way to a better world. This law stopped people from attacking other religions and allowed the freedom of practicing any form of Christianity in Colonial America without fear of being beaten for it. But another democratic feature, which happened in Colonial America was the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut.…

The New England colonies were founded by the puritans who came to escape religious persecution. The puritans didn’t have any separation between the church and state, they mainly had a theocracy with the pastor as the head of the colony. They also based all of their rules off of the bible, the people who were considered “criminals” were people who had completed sins. Laws were not imposed by the monarch but by common law. In the middle colonies, the Quaker women had more rights politically. There were governors in New York and the colonist could elect representatives to an assembly. The southern colonies created the first elected legislature in 1619, the House of Burgesses, only white men who owned property could be elected or vote. The Toleration…
