I am a graduating senior student at Jacksonville state University majoring in Cell & Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. My educational aspiration is to pursue a medical career as a doctor. I decided to join health profession since my passion has been deeply rooted in assisting others and trying to improve their health quality conditions and also, learning about their medical needs in a community. If selected for this scholarship, I will continue to apply the same diligence to my collegiate studies as I have to this point, making education and service to others my top priority.…
Throughout my school years, I have always wanted to help in the community and make an impact to others therefore when entering my freshman year, I joined many different clubs but one stood out to me which was Key Club assists students in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. In the club, we do many acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. We also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and more so. It provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. One thing that impacted me from doing community work was the Eliminate Project which is a campaign to raise $110 million to eliminate…

The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. In both the movie and the book slaves had to overcome horrific conditions to be freed, In the movie the main character Cinque was captured sold and thrown onto the Amistad and into the life of slavery but yet he was fought for and he finally made it home, In the story Olaudah finally was also on a slave ship and was sold into slavery.…
Over the years I have discovered many things, alone, about myself, that would benefit me in the long run. As a child, math and science didn’t interest me, but I always knew what profession I wanted to take up, while in college. It was not until my high school years that I begun to realize the chosen field I wanted to major in medicine. I was surprised on how much I had evolved on the idea of math and science. Still, I was very much unaware of my next step with fulfilling my dream in college. However through research and determination I would soon be able to work towards my goals.…
Throughout this novel there are a lot of characters worthy of comparing and contrasting, however I've decided to analyze Matsu, and Stephen relationship. The base of Matsu and Stephen relationship sort of reminds me of a George and Lennie relationship from the “Of Mice and Men Tale”, in which George carries around Lennie like a helpless pet by caring for him, guiding him through life, and bailing him out of the sticky situations he gets himself in.…
To my knowledge, there is only one Landon Follett Van Wagoner in the world, but what's in a name? I suppose that my upbringing isn't far off the norm for a BYU student. I grew up in Bountiful Utah and was blessed to be raised in a family that is active in the church, where my siblings and I learned the foundational lessons of faith. I am presently serving a mission in Melbourne Australia, and I will be attending Brigham Young University this fall.…
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education has always been extraordinarily important to me, and for this reason, I believe I am qualified to receive this scholarship. Even from a young age, I took it upon myself to strive for the best, participating in spelling bees since the fourth grade, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout middle school, and immersing myself entirely in academics during my high school career. Throughout school, I had two predominant goals that I continuously strived for: to graduate with a 4.0 grade point average and to be accepted into the college of my dreams. I accomplished both, becoming a senior scholar in my graduating class…
National honors society is based off of four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. My whole life I have been committed to learning; I have been in the top of my class since I started middle school. This year as a senior, I will be graduating with more credits than my school requires, an honors diploma, and multiple college credit. I have the privilege of participating in a new program at my school that allows me to take classes at a local community college expense free. I have taken advantage of this opportunity and am partaking in the challenge of learning a second language.…
As I near the end of my high school career, I realize that I am not the same person who began 3 years ago as a freshman. While my teachers instilled the fundamental aspects of a well-rounded education, I learned through my own experience that education extends beyond the classroom. My activities in academics, athletics, community service and work experience, have instilled qualities in me that will prepare me for the immediate future of college and beyond.…
There are many passions that factor into my life. Some passions have been temporary but some passions have been so influential to my life that forgetting them would be demoralizing to my present self. Additionally, my short and long-term passions are the driving force that allows me to succeed and prosper. The passion that drives me the most is my quest to exemplify my family and their heritage. I have maintained my passion all my life by earning outstanding academic achievements and continuously remaining active in the school system and the community. My motivation leads directly to the members of my living family. Upholding the image my family has created for me and my sister is incredibly important especially since in this small city of Port Clinton,…
As early as middle school, I had begun volunteering my time for the various events my church held and I chose to continue with this throughout my high school career in my involvement with key club, national honors society, and even in the Distributive Education Clubs of America. I can’t imagine a point in my life where I wouldn’t be involved in some form of community service. In…
