College Is A Waste Of Time Essay
Business is still the most common major. About a fifth of the 1.79 million bachelor’s degrees conferred in 2011-12 were in business (Desilver). In addition, business has been the most common major since 1980-1981. Going to college will set one up for success in life because one will gain experience of living independently and pursuing a passion; however, many people think going to college is a waste of time and money, but statistics shows that people who do not attend college are two times more likely to be unemployed.
Being successful in life does not just happen. College is something that will help one become successful in life. Going to college will be a life changing experience for anyone. One will get the experience of living independently. College will also give someone the opportunity to pursue something that they love and have a passion for. Pew Research Center states, “[t]he economic analysis finds that Millennial College graduates ages 25 to 32 who are working full time earn more annually—about $17,500 more—than employed young adults holding only a high school diploma.”(“Rising Cost of Not Going …show more content…
Going to a large four year university may take up too much time. One may think that four years or more may be too long to study one single field. They may also think college can get too expensive. The amounts of debt people have collected are something that may scare many away from attending college. The debt one collects from college may hold them back in life because of the mass amounts of debt.
