College Interview Essay
He strode over to the table, seeming enthusiastic to do the interview, he sat down with a grin. I decided to start the interview, when a Dairy Queen employee came over with the food. When I opened my mouth to ask the first question, he shuffled around in the booth a little. Once comfy, he started to answer the question about what college he went to. To my surprise, he didn’t go to college until he was in his 50’s because he “didn’t have good enough grades”. That had to have hurt his self of steam a little because if he didn’t care or want to go to college, then why did he go to college later in life. So I decided to ask him questions about what he did instead.
When Dean Buerhr walked the halls of high school, he had to take on a lot of responsibilities. Living in Midwestern Ohio in a small farm town, everybody had a farm. His family in particular owned a 5 acre farm where Dean had a …show more content…
Dean said, “I thinks that was one of the biggest transitions for him at that time.” Most people say the biggest transition in their lives was when they went to college, but he didn’t even go to college at that time. I think that the reason he doesn’t think that college was his biggest transition is because he went at such a late age. He talked a little about how college didn’t really affect him in the normal sense. Most of the transitions people struggle with didn’t affect him to much.
Which is why I think military was such a big event in his life. In the military, they make you go through basic training. He mentioned the significance of a test they were required to take, in which each person had to climb underneath a barbed wire fence. Majority of the time, it resulted in the scraping of their heads, a harsh task. He was laughing a little when he said, “If a guy got too scared, orfroze up, they would have five guys go down, the guns would halt their fire and they would retrieve the m(en/an)
