College Admissions Essay: Bruce Lee As A Role Model

For several days he tried heat treatments and massage, until the steadily increasing pain forced him to seek medical advice. As he seeked medical attention, he was told he had severely damaged a nerve, and walking without aid was impossible after. Bruce Lee didn’t immediately fall down, and never get back up. He persisted to train and continue to pick himself back up, and while living through a back pain for the rest of his life, he never thought for a moment he had been defeated, or that he was

The term role model generally means any "person who serves as an example, whose behaviour is emulated by others". The individual that I chose from a young age to emulate my behavior off of is Spongebob Squarepants. He is a sponge that lives at the bottom of the ocean in a town called Bikini Bottom, where he works at a local burger restaurant called the Krusty Krab. He’s not my hero in the idea that he lives alone and works in fast food for his entire life but because he is the most loyal and determined individual that I can think of. He taught me that no matter how old you are, to never let go of your inner child.…

Role models are very important when it comes to social learning because we are more likely to do what they do they do so we memorise what they do well and then we copy. This is because we look up to them and it can be very different from copying someone in the street. This is because we would rather imitate our role models because we may think they are the best in everything that they do. Personally my role model is Nelson Mandela because despite all the challenges that he faced through his life has been strong, passionate, worked hard and he stood to what he believed in no matter how much people wanted him dead. Another reason is because he has achieved a lot throughout his life, but unfortunately he’s passed away now even though this doesn’t change my mind. I want to be able to achieve similar things to him. For this reason I copy his behaviour when dealing with certain problems.…
