Cole Cahill: A Short Story
Hello, I’m Cole Cahill some of you may know me. I am the son of 2 loving parents Craig and Teresa Cahill. I also have an older brother that is presently in his 2nd year of law school. My 2nd oldest brother is Carter and we get told we look like twins a lot and he will be graduating early from university of Iowa with a degree in computer science. And my last brother is Connor and he is at Kirkwood for his first year in agriculture. Both sides of my family are very large with my dad having 5 brothers and 2 sisters, and my mom having 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

First, I kind of of start off with some history of my life in prayer. I first heard of prayer since I could remember. I didn’t think it was a big thing when I was really young I just thought

So I prayed. When I first heard that she had passed, I was sitting in this room at any normal youth group. Before we left, me was telling us at the dinner table that she just went and saw grandma and she was doing better in hospice care with her infected hip. 40 minutes after that Lisa Duffy nocked on the door and asked pat if she could take me and Connor could go out to that hall and told us she was gone. At this point I could barely walk from the news and I made it to my bed and after I got done crying I began to pray because I felt it was the right thing to do at the moment. So I started doing my rosary that I got from her during my first communion. My parents went to Clintons hospital to lock at the body and didn’t see them till the next …show more content…
Because I could fall asleep so prayed till about 2 in the morning till I was so tired I could fall asleep. I would continue to do this for the next couple of nights but not later. And the day she was buried I realized that I was praying to the better place she was going and I’ll see her again some time when I go to heaven to see her. And from this though I became a stronger Christian. Which resulted in me at least praying monthly for my grandma and for everything that God has helped me with and given me. I use it to clear my mind and think about what I should be thankful for and not what I want and what God teaches me through life. And that’s why I

My cousin was only 19 when he got diagnosed with Stomach Cancer. I was only in my second year of high school, but things did not got as bad until my junior year. During that time, all he had was me. Both of his parents worked all the time to be able to pay all the medical bills and surgeries he has had done. I have missed various days in school and have been tardy lots of days because I was always in the hospital or at home with him. Nothing is worse in life than seeing a loved one slowly beginning to die and there is nothing you can do about it, but be there with them every step of the way. Throughout his whole sickness, I used to pray all the time and have so much faith that he will get better, yet he never did. Everyone in my surroundings doubted him and I was his only supporter. My cousin was more than a cousin to me; he was practically a brother to me. One day, I fed him after him throwing up his food for weeks, and he didn’t throw up. He did so well, and he thanked me all the time. That day gave me so much hope that he will get better, but the next day, I was on my way to visit him and as soon as I got there, I see his father outside. Enthusiastically, I asked how was his son doing and he looked at me and told me that he passed away 10 minutes ago. He passed away on January 20th, 2015. It had been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with in life. After, I didn’t pay no…

We all mourned together for the next few days. During those few days, I noticed how everyone in our family accompanied each other, and how close we all became. I could tell people this is why I don’t try or want to do anything but I don’t because I know that my grandma would never want. I feel that anyone going through the loss of a friend or family member should always think of the positive outlook instead of the negative. Looking at the negative side of it can create all different kinds of problems for a person. If you look at the positive you can use that as motivation to do anything in life. Life can get hard but you can never let the hardships depict and destroy your life. You aren’t on this earth for a long time so you have to make the best of…

When I found out my grandmother had Breast Cancer I was filled with solicitude and anxiety. My grandmother became despondent and ashamed of her cancer, and as her hair started to fall out, I noticed the nervousness in her eyes which caused me to be more concerned. A week later she had to go into surgery. Knowing my grandmother was going through such a life-changing event, I wasn't able to be myself. It was difficult to concentrate in class or conversed with my friends. All I could think about was my grandmother. I played sports and become more involved in church to help keep my mind off it. My mother said, " Listen my son, I'm going to tell you a real story to show you that God the Almighty always makes kids' dreams and their prayers come true. It is a story that happened twenty years ago. Imagine a child of four years playing with his toys in a small living room. Suddenly he raises his head to see his mother and his grandmother crying. He had no idea why they were crying but he managed after a while to grasp the reasons. His father died a moth ago and they were still crying over him. The last time his father visited them was a year before he died. He came from Paris, where he used to work, and he brought many gifts for his family. The child thought they were crying over him and the gifts they would never get again. He went to his mother and begged her to stop crying. He promised her that when he grew older, he would take her to Paris and buy for her whetever she wanted. His mother smiled, hugged him and promised him not to cry again."…
