After reading the book Good Faith and watching the movie Glengarry Glen Ross, I was able to analyze the actions of the characters and identify their views on ethical behavior. Both the book and the movie concentrate on salesmen of the real estate companies. The common goal that all salesmen aim for is to become successful by getting high profits from selling different properties. Behaviors such as lying, disobeying the law, or stealing are seen as unethical in the society. On the other hand, behaviors such as acting with integrity, and caring about clients needs are viewed as ethical acts.…

Ashley’s Furniture Store located in the Ledge wood, NJ area, it is my opinion, and this store is in need of training their employees the importance of the AMA Code of Ethics. In dealing with the public and serving as an employee of a reputable furniture store you would think all of the employees would have the same type of training, and/or have the same goal in mind, serve the public in a fair and honest way. (pg 84) (Anderson & Dubinsky, 2007)…
In today’s society businesses are out there to make a profit. However, many businesses conduct their commerce trying to bend or perhaps even break the rules in order to gain an advantage in the market. Many get away with cleanly without notice and many also get caught. Those businesses that are discovered often pay multiple consequences such as a possible lawsuit. Then once their behavior is published, even more consequences can arise. They can even be punished by the average consumer that decides not to deal with a company that has unethical behavior. Companies can lose millions if consumers believe their actions are immoral. Therefore, any business that incorporates a code of ethics into their program…

Most organizations have some sort of code of ethics. These codes are the basis on how such organizations operate. This paper will compare the ethics codes of The Associated Press and The American Marketing Association. The AMA has a relatively short statement of ethics. The statement includes three key ethical norms.…
The scenario shows that the salesman is at the post-conventional level of cognitive moral development since his personal sense of morality seem to be defined in terms of more abstract values and principles. The company can be seen as a separate entity from society and can thus disobey rules inconsistent with its own agenda of profit-making. However, the salesman lives by the ethical principle of justice, which he feels should be done to all clients. The salesman’s moral reasoning is based on ideas, such as respect, dignity, and equality, which mean that if he does not disclose the issue he would feel guilty.…
Ethics and moral obligations are issues we all encounter at one time or another. In the professional setting, all people should act in a manner that would uphold the good of society. To be ethical, one has to determine their obligations, moral ideas, and moral philosophy (Boatright, p. 19, 2009). The case analysis involving Jacob Franklin was a perfect example of how an individual can face the dilemma of doing what is right or wrong. Businesses have their own code of ethics, and the employees within the business have to determine whether or not they will follow the company’s code of conduct. I will discuss several ethical issues in the case analysis including; failure to report information, remaining silent regarding faulty equipment, and paying cash as a form of consideration to clients once the contract was signed. Ethical behavior in business is consistent with the principles, norms and standards of business practices agreed upon by society (Boatright, p.4, 2009). Jacob Franklin decides to go against the code of ethical behavior for job security and personal gain.…
