Decisions to protect and improve human environment in conference of united nations at stolkhome in June 1972 Promulgumation of environmental protection act in 1986 Superceding effect over all acts 3(2)(V) of the act empowers for restrictions of industries,operation or processes in a particular area or zone. Late prime minister Smt. Indira Gandhi,after visiting goa beach,found it expedient to impose restrictions for protection of beach. Study groups set up in 1982. Guidelines were finalised in July 1983 declaring 500 mt area as restricted. In order to have legal efficacy, draft notification issued on 15.12.1990 Final notification on 19 02 1991 Gazzetted on 20 02 1991 Last amendment on 21.05.2002 Web site www.envfor.nic.in
Definition of HTL
Q.1 What is High Tide Line ? Line up to which the highest water line reaches during the spring tide.
Q.2 What is Coastal Regulation zone ? Coastal stretches of Sea, Bays, Estuaries, Creeks, Rivers and Backwaters which are influenced by the tidal action. Area between LTL & HTL. Area upto 500m from HTL Landward limit of CRZ in creeks C.R.Z is extended up to what point inside landward direction,in cases of Rivers, Creeks and Backwaters? Distance upto which tidal effects are experienced
