Sia’s Coachella peformance drove everybody insane but have you ever wondered how she got there?

Stars like Sia were able to make it in the very hectic and fast paced world of the music industry. However, it wasn’t easy for her to do. But she was able to share how she got to where she is now with Billboard.

The 39 year old artist shares a few of her beneficial tips if you have a dream in becoming a pop star:

Retire: She tried her luck in making it on her own but she failed at it. She instead focused on writing for other artists. She was able to bring in some much needed income from her writing.

Her success on this step later materialized with Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Ne-Yo's "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself).

Refuse (most) interviews: Her popularity as a songwriter and artist grew but she refused to be put in the spotlight. She would rather live in selective anonymity.

Appear on huge soundtracks: Sia partnered the Weeknd for “Elastic Heart” from the “Hunger Games” soundtrack. It was a hit especially for Hunger Games fans.

Save one of your hugest choruses for yourself: Her song “Chandelier” was an epic success. It was her lead single with the most highly praised soaring chorus. According to Billboard, Sia delivered its powerful verses in a slurred daze.

Release a music videa with a tween star: Sia released “Chandelier’s” music video with Maddi Ziegler on screen. Her Youtube views counted 533 million.

Team up with an expert pop producer: Her partnership with producer Greg Kurstin was essential.

Create must-see performances with your back turned: Going back to her selective anonymity, she performs live on television but never shows her face. She wanted the audience to focus on the choreography on stage like she did on Ellen’s TV
