Persuasive Essay Response

Situation: In some countries, students are responsible for the basic daily cleaning of their school buildings. Fifteen minutes are set aside each day for all students to sweep, dust, and clean their classrooms and corridors.

Directions: Think about how you would feel if students were responsible for cleaning your school. Do you agree or disagree that American schools should adopt this policy?

Prompt: Now, write an essay in which you persuade the reader why this is or is not a good idea. Defend your position with specific reasons supported by several detailed examples.

Cans, dust, paper, broken pencils, and sometimes food lurk through out the halls of many

schools. It’s our fault the schools look the way they do. Why not clean it up? Janitors do not get

paid enough like teachers do, the least we could do is make it easier for them. This policy should

be adopted in American school only because it gives a great outlook on our school’s appearance,

it shows appreciation to the janitor’s, and allows us to be self sufficient.

“If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, what is the significance of a clean

Desk?” This quote was spoken by Laurence J. Peter. Our school is like our second home, we’re

there most of the day. When you’re home do you or your parents allow your house to be filled

up with a variety of trash? When people walk or drive pass many different schools they

automatically assume the worst about it when trash is left everywhere. For example, James S.

Rickards High School. When people hear that name you want them to have positive and

outstanding things to say about it. Not “there school grounds are filthy, everywhere you go,

you see trash and other disgusting things laying around”. We as students need to take pride and

joy in the things we utilize. So why not let this policy be accepted in American schools? We

While watching the video “Children in American Schools”, there were a lot of things that I found very surprising. Since here at Elida High School we have such a nice, clean environment to learn in, I couldn’t imagine trying to learn in the conditions some of those students were. I couldn’t believe there were schools with holes in the walls, water all over the floor, roof leaks, and still run off of coal. It’s really dangerous to have kids in these conditions, as they usually aren’t very careful as it is and someone could get hurt. If I was in that position, I would feel as if they didn’t really care about my education if they don’t care to give me a safe or clean place to receive it.…

    Student Trash Essay

The students who live on campus (in the dorm rooms and in the local apartment complexes) should have to be evaluated by the RAs (resident advisors) in charge. The RAs could do weekly checks to see if the rooms were up to health standards. Typical health standards relate to clean bathrooms, kitchens, and minimal trash. However, the average student does not have minimal trash. Most students have trash that has been loitering in their living area for more than a week. The easiest way to dispose of that trash is to place the trash into a plastic trash bag, and then proceed to take the trash bag to the nearest dumpster.…

Well we have all done this, it may vary depending on your current employment on how, but we do. We all lose important tools in our current task. My job right now is to stay home, take care of my family, and well…. Pretty much everything else. Sometimes while cooking in a hurry I will start stacking spices, ingredients, and pans on top of each other just to create workspace. Then I will search for that condiment and drive myself insane looking for it. By the time I find it dinner is ruined due to over cooking. The truth is if I had just taken a few minutes to lay out and organize my spices and ingredients my cooking would have been more productive and would have had a larger workspace. Another example of how productivity is linked with an uncluttered workspace is paying bills. In the past every time a bill came in the mail I would dump it on the desk. Next thing you know the bill is almost due and I have to go a on a scavenger hunt. This definitely shows a link between cleanliness and productivity. USA Today states how employers look for tidy candidates to fill positions. A clean environment prevents loss in revenue. One lost document costs a company $120, as writer Dana Knight states in her article. A company wants the person representing them to be one that everyone can look up to and respect. Knowing where every document, order, or inventory is creates a positive reputation. Organization is used in every job, every day. Doctors and nurses must know where every syringe and medication is to save lives. Can you imagine rushing to the ER and putting your life in someone else hands and there was a mistake. What if there was a need for a blood transfusion and their stock was unorganized? Or the charts were mixed up with another patients and the medicine issued to you caused an allergic reaction? This is why we must all learn to sort and organize to some extent. I…

Since People spend most of their time in Park, Beach, and library. I was so surprised to see the view. I wondered, and I said “wow” in my mind. But now everything changed!…
