Clc Personal Statement

I was nineteen years old when I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I felt a calling to serve God and I decided to attend a Bible College to pursue a degree in Theology. When I arrived at Christian Life College (CLC) in January of 2001, I never could have dreamed that God would open the doors for me to work in a full-time ministry and do what I enjoy doing every day. My interest in the art of filmmaking and video production began unexpectedly during my first year at CLC.
It all started with PowerPoint. I had to create a PowerPoint presentation for a class assignment. Growing up, I was always good at coloring, drawing, and painting. I found my passion for communicating a message visually, artistically, and creatively. Later, I received many requests for custom presentations from instructors and pastors for their class lectures and sermons. This was a valuable time for me as I was able to learn from each of my presentations, by building up my technical skills and understanding the visual communication. This also spurred my desire to learn filmmaking and video production.
The first short film I ever produced and directed was titled Rapture of The Church. I did not have any actual video editing software then; I had no way of editing the mini DV footage in post-production. I was so consumed by this that I lacked focus on academics. I realized I was not gifted in the art of preaching. This led me to be unsure of what my ministry was to be. I felt as if I could never be an evangelist, pastor, or teacher. But I was wrong. At that time, I could not see that God was calling me to use my talents for the advancement of the Gospel through media and new technologies. I realized that my true calling came later that year while serving on the youth staff of Christian Life Center’s youth ministry, pastored by Reverend Eli Lopez. While serving in the youth ministry, I created and designed posters, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, and short films. I also began to serve in Christian Life Center’s media ministry under the directorship of Dr. William Riddell. He introduced me to Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After
