As I finally walked up the great hill, I caught sight of ‘the building’ and I knew at once it was the globe Theatre, it was the gorgeous narrow castle on the left. It was the most out-standing building of all of them and it had a reddish flag at the very top which meant there was a performance on that day. The building was like a sky-scraper and its colour was just so different from the dull and dark other buildings. The building had a very circular shape.…

The most impressive part of the design is in its dome, where the complex corners and curves of the plan are pulled upwards like a tent. Standing at the center of the church and looking upwards, it’s beautiful shape is revealed, and the pronounced entablature makes the visitor want to flow around the space, following its shape. The dome is filled with natural light, which elevates the space into a spiritual…

This field trip was educational and at the same time entertaining for the entire family. I learned a lot of things from history, others’ cultures, science and old arts. I was amazed by the diversity of the collections exhibited in this museum including masks, jewelry, sculptures, pottery, paintings and many royal pieces. The pieces of art that I selected were just part of many that captured my heart and attention. These pieces were The dancer at Pigalle’s, a painting by Gino Servini representing a women dancing and spinning around happily in a stage. Butterfly Kid (girl), a sculpture by Yinka Schonibare, that relates art with culture and environment and, the Paysage (A Winter Day in Brittany), a landscape by William Lamb Picknell representing a traveler going back home enjoying the nature after a long…

This was Maria Laura’s own discovery, a secret spot known only to her. We treasured her sweet gesture to bring us to this unique panorama of Orvieto; Umbria’s ultimate Gothic hilltop town. The sun-dappled glow on the cathedral and the slabs of tufa stone on which Orvieto appears to be hoisted, intensified the dramatic outlook of the city and made this an appropriate, lovely spot to say goodbye to Maria Laura. We thanked her for all that she had done for us, reiterated how much we appreciated her encouragement and looked forward to working with her on achieving our dream of owning a home in Italy. We promised to review and sign the documents as soon as we arrived home. Confident that fate was guiding us through this endeavor, we assured her that we were extremely eager to proceed with the buying…

Medieval Castles truly are magnificent works of art from humanity’s ancient past. Over the years we’ve learned so much about them but not everyone knows every detail about them. Medieval Castles began appearing in England in 1066 after the “Norman Invasion”. ( “History of Medieval Castles” ). Medieval Castles were used for a great many things but what use out of all of them was more memorable, a Defencive Fortress, an Offensive Base of Operations, or just a place of residence, possibly even something else entirely, why not figure that out now.…
