OBJECTIVES WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP AND COMMITEMENTS? WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLESHIP? WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP OF DISCIPLE WITH JESUS? WHAT IS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF DISCIPLESHIP?

YOUTH RETREAT PURPOSE STATEMENT -2012 The main purpose of Christian discipleship is to be like Christ and might develop an individual spiritual life and making the Leader of church. The discipleship is to emulate the character of Christ and also to surrender to god and bearing fruits for the kingdom of God. Christian discipleship begins when you make an active choice to get to know Jesus better by God's grace. Because we belongs to the Lord, God of all creation and God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. We are recipients of God's grace and are blessed by his love for Isreal’s father. We do not have to fear because God is in control of our future. Just as he worked through the history of his chosen people to send the messiah, who will accompany with us through our Holy life. * You can study His word daily and spend time alone with him in prayer * You can become a leader of a Bible teaching for the church and youths * You can seek out the fellowship of other Christians who are with Christ * You can participate in God’s ministry and meet the needs of other Peoples

However, intellectual knowledge of God is not enough. Emotional expression and volition are equally important. The Holy Spirit acts on behalf of Jesus Christ to plant faith in a Christian’s heart. He indwells us, and helps us exercise our faith daily. We can grow in our faith by studying God’s word, seeking the Lord, confessing sin, actively following biblical principles, and constantly communicating with God. Faith is ultimately a reliance and trust of God, and the Bible teaches us to rely on Him for everything.…

In 1 Peter, he stresses that Christians are to be God 's obedient children, "chosen race, royal priesthood, holy nation, God 's own people" (1:14).     The Jesus Creed has really helped me to look at Scripture from what I believe is a more biblical and Jesus centered perspective. While I have read the words Jesus used from Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Leviticus 19:18 many times in Scripture, I never considered how all His teachings might have stemmed from them. I did not know Jesus had amended the Shema of Judaism because I didn’t know there was a Shema before reading this book, but now knowing this I can more clearly see what Jesus was doing. He was correcting a misunderstanding how some used and understood the Torah. Most paid excellent attention to the letter of the Law; however they had failed to grasp the message that God had called them to partake in His redemptive mission. Just as the Israelites got tangled up with the letter of the Law and missed their calling, are we as the Church today also failing to answer the same call? I believe it’s far too easy to make a case that we are, especially in America. Jesus redefines what it means to love God, instead of showing love to God by observing the Torah, Jesus calls people to follow Him, and in doing so He equates loving God to having a personal relationship with Himself thereby amending the Shema, making it personal. Next, He adds to the Shema by using a Leviticus passage saying “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love of God and love of others is the core of Jesus’ Shema and loving God means following Jesus. McKnight believes the Jesus Creed is the foundation of everything Jesus teaches about spiritual formation and after having read his book I have to say I agree. Everything Jesus does is out of love for God and for others as illustrated time and time again throughout the Gospels.…
