Choosing a career
What do you want to be when you grow up?

Ask a pre-schooler and he will tell you he wants to be a teacher or a fire-fighter. Ask a kid who just become a teenager and he'll tell you that he plans to be a superstar. When young people are of high school age, the time comes for them to consider what they might like to choose as a career. The limits are endless and to many. Everyone can benefit from a little bit of guidance in how to choose a career. Follow these steps and you will be well on your way to choosing the career that is right for you.
First of all, pay attention to what interests you. Most people are not going to find anyone to pay them to sit around and play video games, but perhaps if this is something they have a strong interest in, they can learn to design the graphics or write the plots for video games or what about becoming a production or sound engineer? The key is to find something you find interesting, then seek out opportunities that are relate to it.
Second of all, become an intern. If you think you might like to work in advertising, secure a position in an advertising firm for a summer. If you are considering the teaching profession, volunteer to become a tutor at a local school. Internships can be eye opening experiences on professions you might be considering.
Last but not least, find out what it takes to have the career you are thinking of choosing. Is there a particular college degree required? You'll need to know what degree and what universities offer the program. Is there special training? Are there other jobs you could be doing in the meantime that would offer valuable experience for the position you have your eye on?
To sum up, I personally think that choosing a career while being young is the most important. People have more time to both, decide and improve themselves if necessary.

It's a person's choice of which path they want to take in the future but without help they can choose the wrong path. As Dr. Seuss said in his poem" I'm sorry to say so but, sadly, it's true and Hang-ups can happen to you." My Perspective is that careers is a very important course in high school because it helps students discover their skills and choose the right career. Careers will show kids how to create and do different aspects of getting a job and starting a career. It will let them explore the different opportunities for them in the future and educate them to choose the career best for them. In…

Most fourteen year olds have no idea what they want to be when they grow up. I guess you could say I fell into this same category. That is, until my Careers teacher gave me a life changing assignment. For this assignment, I had to pick a career and job shadow a person in that profession. I had no idea what direction to turn. Then, one day while sitting in the dental chair waiting for my dentist, I began mulling over different career possibilities. When my dentist came in to finish my exam, it suddenly crossed my mind that maybe dentistry was a possibility. I started paying attention to what he was doing and soon realized that this was something I wanted to learn more about. I remember how excited I was when I told my mom I had found the perfect person for my assignment.…

One of the hardest decisions i have had to make and still can't decide on is what to do after high school. I don't know if i want to go back to school or go straight to work, i never thought it would be this hard to decide on what career i wanted to go into but it's been very difficult. You have to weigh all the options and see what is best for you, It's not all about the money either, you can't pick a field that you hate if you can't stand to go to work it doesn't really matter how much money you make, so you have to try and find something you like to do and pay decent, which can be harder than you think. My plan for the future is to go to work for a year after i graduate then maybe that will help me decide if i want to go back to school for…

Lastly, if middle schools focused on careers it could help kids to set realistic goals for themselves. For example if a kid wants to be a pro football player there is a very slim chance of that happening because a very small percent of players go pro. A more realistic job is police officer because anyone can become a police officer or a firefighter. Those are realistic jobs that kids can set goals for and with work one day accomplice. Realistic goals is one of the key reasons why middle schools should focus on careers.…

You should start thinking about what college you want to go to and what you want to major in. The first major step in looking towards your future is researching careers that fit your interests and abilities. What is so wrong with society today is the fact that everyone is so driven by money. No one wants to face the fact that not everyone will be millionaires when they grow up. When choosing a career, it shouldn’t be about what career makes the most money. It should be about what you enjoy and are very good at. I am an example of being very money hungry. My entire life I wanted to be some kind of doctor so that I could have that nice six-figure salary. As I got older, I realized that life is more than how much money you have in your bank account. It is about being as happy as you can be, and that can all begin with choosing the right career for…

I worked with third grade and loved every moment of it. I have worked with different age groups over the last few years and have come to realize that I love working with children. This is how I figured out what I wanted to do.…
