Additionally, some quick research of recent Chinese politics leads me to believe that some of the evidence could be fabricated. The government has a vested interest in confirming its status as ruling over the people, given that, unlike in a democracy, it doesn’t directly draw its right to govern from the people via a vote. As such, it is not a stretch to think that the CPC would try to portray these engraved characters as an ancient prophecy foretelling the rightful ascension of the communist party to power, and either hire scientists to confirm this story, or just manipulate the way the evidence is portrayed to the public so that the evidence conforms to their message. We already have some confirmation of this theory of evidence manipulation; the fact that the mainstream Chinese media only mentions the first five characters and not the sixth, changing the inscription to read “Communist Party of China” instead of
