A museum is the ideal place to get a crash course on a country's history and culture. This time is about the Chinese cinema; China National Film Museum ( CNFM ). China National Film Museum ( CNFM ) is the world’s largest proffesional film museum. This museum was founded in 2005 to celebrate 100 years of Chinese cinema and opened to the public on February 10, 2007. The building’s design reflects the concept of finding balance between film and architecture. The grand exterior features an image of a giant screen and a series of slanted structures resembling a film clipboard. The surface of this building is in black, decorated with an engraving effect, creates a mysterious allure to this grand audio visual palace of art. China National Film Museum ( CNFM ) was designed to both help in the development of the Chinese film and telecommunication industry as well as be an attraction for tourists to learn about Chinese films.
The interior of four-story museum is divided into four halls colored red, green, blue, and yellow resemble four different functions of the museum which are exhibition, expo, cinemas, and services. This museum has 20 permanent exhibition halls, temporary spaces for special exhibitions, and multifunctional halls for exhibition and meetings. In addition, CNFM has one IMAX theatre, one digital projection theater, and three 35mm projection theatres.The permanent exhibitions also display more than 1,500 films, 4,300 photographs, as well as textual introductions to over 450 film industry workers. Scattered throughout the museum's 20 exhibition halls are dioramas that tell the story of Chinese cinema. Old quipment like spotlights and lenses are also on display.
