Children Should Not Be Allowed to Bring Mobile Phones to School
Children should not be allowed to bring mobile phones to school.

With the increasing number and various new models of mobile phones being sell in the markets, they are among one of the greatest technologies achievement ever being made by humans. Mobile phones are sometimes can affect people’s mind and behaviour especially to our young childrens which lead to bad effects. Eventhough mobile phones are important to most peoples nowdays from professional workers to modern farmers in order to communicate with one another, what are the effects of mobile phones usage among the school childrens? Here, there are several arguments being disscussed in this essay.

Firstly, mobile phones can affect the learning process in the classroom while the teachers are teaching in front. Childrens tend to get distract with all the entertainment applications inside their mobile phones such as music players, movies, games and sms, short for short messaging system. For example, while the teacher is explaining something important regarding to the class subject, students at the back are keep busying themselves with watching or listening to music songs in their mobile phones. When the teacher ask them a question, the students become quiet and ignore the teacher’s question because what is still playing inside their mind is the music. This is truly a waste of time of learning process in school and eventually the students will fail in their examination if they are not focused in class.

Secondly, students will become lazy to participate either in class activities or outside class activitites as they keep on bringing the mobile phones in school. As other students busy with participating in the school activities, these students who own mobile phones will prevent themselves from joining activities with the rest because of busying with messaging their friends in the phone. When they are still keep on messaging, they will never stop until one of them is stop as one is questioning and the other one is answering. At the end, they might not attracted to join any of the school activities because of the addicted to the sms.

Sometimes, this sms addiction can also lead to social issues such raping, molesting, kidnapping or even killing when messaging to someone that is unkown. For an example, especially those young female schoolchildrens, they usually will reply messages to an unknown person and this unkown person could be a boy or a grown adult. We really do not know whether this boy or this men is a good person or a bad person. For boys, they really do know how to catch a heart of a young girl by typing a sweet phrase or charming texts. Then, the girl will become excited and asked for more and keep on treating the boy’s replies sms. Someday, the boy will asked a date with the girl to meet him. If this boy is a bad person, the girl will surely be in a big trouble and this is why the social problems among the schoolchildrens are getting serious if there are no actions taken.

On the other hand, mobile phones can be used for good things such as to takes pictures on the diagrams that being drawn by the teachers or to record the voice on what the teachers are explaining. At home, the students can refreshed or recalled back on that particular subjects. Since the mobile phones have camera and recording media application, the students should know how to use this media applications wisley without damaging the learning process in class although there are books provided. By appling this modern learning method, the students will not get bored in home while revising back the important points in the subjects as they can watch and listen through the mobile phones rather than listening to musics and watching movies.

In addtion to this, mobile phones can be used to make a call in case of ‘emergency’ situations. For example, if there’s a student suddenly have a heart-attack or a serious sickness in the class, students who own a mobile phone can used it to call directly to the nearest hospital. This can save life of a person if call is being made immediately. Or in other cases, in case of fire accidents occur in the school, students can use it to call the fire department to put out the fire. Of course, in some situation, students should not make any false call in order to prevent any chaos inside the school. If this happens, the students shall be penalised with pusnishment and the school’s management will be effected if the ambulance or the fire brigades come to the school but there are nothing happen.

In primary and secondary (including form six) school level, the usage of mobile phones are still not allowed by the educational department. From my own experiences, mobile phones is not that really important gadgets while studying in school as it caused more to bad distractions than good one. Bringing mobile phone to school will affect the learning process in class and later will lead to more negative problems such as bad exam marks, pronographic, bullying and stealing. Eventhough rules have been implemented on forbidden of mobile phone among the students, some of them still ignore these rules and insist to bring it to the class. Therefore, the school’s management should be more aware of these problems and one of the suggestion to prevent this is to make a regular spot check (once for every week) in the class and find any students who bring mobile phones. Later, the mobile phones will be seized and keep by the school’s disicpline teacher.

For example, the article “Should We Ban Cell Phones in the Classroom?” explains that cellphones distract students from what they should focus on (Mageau 2). Distraction cause the student to fall behind, which lead to cheating on test due to the lack of knowledge he/she was on his/her phone instead of paying attention in class. Even if the student is not caught cheating during an exam, the student would still be victim of distraction of the phone because they did not learn the material causing them to resort to cheating. The constant buzzing, ringing, and flair of light catches a student’s attention which leads to the engaging in the phone rather the teacher. Social disconnection also leads to a decrease in the success rate of a student’s school performance. In Collie’s article “Mobile Technology for the Classroom,” he explains that students who use cellphones in schools are socially disconnected from other peers and teachers (Collie 80). Research shows that students who misuse their cell phones in class struggle in academics. Cyberbullying also ties into a student’s academic success rate. Cellphone usage among teens in school can result in either an advancement in knowledge or drama caused by cyberbullying. For instance, in the article “Is it Safe to Allow Cellphones in School,” Kenneth Trump discuss that cyberbullying is more prevalent…

In recent times, the number of people owning mobile phones has increased dramatically. Now mobile phones are not just for calling, but you can now text, take and send pictures, record videos, access the internet, play games and much more. Students use their cell phones to play games, listen to MP3 music, text message each other (a big one), and even access the Internet, among other things. Keep in mind that our kids are supposed to be learning at school. Right? Also, sadly there is a new source of bullying, in that if a student does not have the “popular type” of cell phone or one of the fancy features, he or she can can often be looked down on by their peers. Mobile phones have definitely become a status symbol for young people. If a student is texting during class they cannot put their full, divided attention into what the teacher is saying, there for what is the point of trying to explain something to someone who isn’t paying attention. Teachers come to school to educate students because it is their job, and they find it disrespectful if a student isn’t listening. Students who have their cell phone in class can use it to cheat. They can text another person and ask them the questions on the test, or the assignment they are given. This causes a problem because it can be very simple to do. Teachers pay attention to their students, but they cannot watch all of them at the same time. During a test it is more easier to catch a student who is text messages, but during regular class it can be easy to miss. Cell phones enable students to cheat fairly…
