Child Hunger Thesis
At some point in all of our lives we’ve all seen that one commercial with the sad music playing in the background, young faces, and the guilt felt message at the end saying” with 50 cents a day you can help end child hunger”. Unfortunately, a plethora of individuals scramble around looking for the TV immediately changing the channel before having to witness the harsh circumstances that these children go through. Numerous amounts of us resort to the saying “out of sight, out of mind.” As individuals we work so hard to ignore childhood hunger in other countries, yet we don’t realize that we’ve turned a blind eye to childhood hunger in the United States. It is no secret that most of us are unaware that child hunger happens in our own backyards, but if any company has the power to help impact childhood hunger, its Denny’s.
Nearly 13 million children in the United States have no choice but to go home with their stomachs growling, wondering where, and when they will receive their next meal. One of the main factors that contributes to childhood hunger is poverty. Fortunately, …show more content…
A plethora of volunteers may be older adults, because majority of the children in the united states don’t listen to the news. However, Denny’s could target college, and high school children who are looking for community service hours. This idea will allow the children who suffer from child hunger to feel more connected with individuals of their own age when attending these summer camps. Because a lot of these children feel as though they have nowhere, or no one to turn to, these summer camps will allow them to spend some time out of their households, and connect with others. Instead of just having to constantly be reminded of how terrible their situation is, they will have the opportunity to talk about a sports game, movie, or even about the college lifestyle.
