Child Care
Unit 2 PER Diary Task 2

P2.4
In my setting a child came to me crying and told me that a child has made him upset by snatching the ball of him at lunch time. I called the other child who had made him cry and asked him why he snatched the ball of him. I explained him he should not snatch a ball or anything from anyone he must ask kindly. The child did not pay attention to what I had said to him and continued to do snatch things from other children. I then decided used the doll puppets to demonstrate the children that snatching things from other people can make them very upset and especially when they are your friends. I questioned the children that is it nice to make your friends upset. The child who had made his friend cry he apologized to his friend as he realized what he has done wrong with his friend.
P2.5
From my personal learning I think I have done a good job by demonstrating because majority of the children learn from what they see the adult doing and also by showing them how to be kind to your friends and not making them upset. I also think demonstrating behaviour can help me in future when I come up with a similar situation again. This can help me with me with a situation where some children could be challenging to handle and this could help the children how to behave because when they see they learn from

Simple things like maintaining eye contact when speaking, and listening and commenting appropriately, ensure that the other person knows you have heard and understood what they have said. By setting a good example, you show children what is appropriate, and how to communicate correctly with each other. Something as simple as praising a child for correct behaviour is enough to inspire them to repeat it, and also inspires others to do the same. By using positive behaviours, you inspire a positive result.…

One professional practise I have chosen to write about is time-keeping and attendance. This is because it is important to attend your placement regularly because many people rely on you and expect you to have prepared activities for the children. If you arrive late and were supposed to start an activity in the morning the children and your supervisor will be disappointed and you will have let them down. However if you arrive on time or just arrived extra early it will show that you can fulfil your responsibilities and can be relied/ trusted upon to do any set task given you by the supervisor. Furthermore in my work placement i always try my best to arrive on time and go to my placement everyday. This is a good start to the working day and should become a habit. I also need to attend college regularly so that I do not miss out on my learning.…

In the work setting it is essential to be able to communicate effectively with many different people on a daily basis. It is important to establish good relationships with a range of different people so that you can plan for and meet their needs. Personally in my setting I am expected to communicate with teachers, children, classroom assistants, lunch supervisors, clerical staff, care takers and parents. Different forms of communication may be required to do so and good communication skills are essential. It is impossible to develop good relationships without good communication. In my work setting the first people I would communicate with is the teacher of the class I am with. From them I learn the plans for the day, what child r children may need extra help, the goals we are working towards and any changes to the class, the children and the plans in place. After listing to the teacher I would then ask any relevant questions and ensure I am ready for the day ahead. Good communication is essential at this point as it helps build respectful relationships, and means that we work together in a team for the good of the children. Poor communication here would lead to either myself or the teacher being unsure of or tasks for the day, which may then lead to confusion for the children. Poor communication may then lead to feelings of stress and resentment as we may feel that we are being ignored or unappreciated. When we are communicating with our managers and peers, we need to ensure that we are communicating appropriately and respectfully. Firstly we need to ensure that were we are communicating is at an appropriate time and location, and that we speak to each other in an appropriate tone of voice. It is essential that we listen to everyone else, and respect their opinions and ideas. We can show we are listening by responding with appropriate questions, having eye contact and open, receptive body…
