Child beauty pageants boost self-esteem, allows girl’s to make meaningful friendships and is just a sport that teaches girls how to win and lose gracefully. Pageants in the past were about your waist line and how great of a wife you would be, recently pageants have been transforming. These contests are not just about which girl looks the best in a swimsuit, the judges now crown for who could answer a question on any subject and give a well-informed answer in almost an instant. The 6 year old beauty pageant star in Colorado was born in mid-1990 and died due to mysterious circumstances. Police reports show that a ransom note was found in the girl’s room but JonBenet was found later that evening in the basement, dead showing signs of being sexually mutilated. When the story had reached the news everyone speculated that she was raped and killed because her stage performances had been “too sexy”. Even JonBenet’s father claims “Patsy had [JonBenet] sitting atop a friend’s convertible in the Christmas parade waving at the people lining the streets,” Ramsey recalled. “Patsy’s mother later told me that a strange man approached the car during the parade and it made her uncomfortable. I think about these things now and it makes me cringe. We were so naive.
