Child abuse relates closely to human service due to the fact that this is a helping field which involves children and family. Human service works to improve the quality of life and well-being of individual. Human service offer services that works closely with counseling, therapy and social justice. As a human service profession you are told to put human being first and always address the most important concerns first. You are told to set aside your personal feeling and don’t place judgement. Human service professional will always deal with child abuse and neglect due to the fact that it’s always a number one concern. Most people tend to see neglect as not feeding and taking care of your children which described the issue but it has more behind its background.
There are many board definition of neglect which some are useful and very limited. Some behavior that are considered neglectful are listed as physical sexual and emotional. neglect can be defined of what is not happening to the child than what actually happening. Neglect can be defined as cultural, social, and chronic depending on a child environmental status.
Physical neglect
Physical neglect is the number one cause of maltreatment. Physical neglect normally involves the parent or guardian not providing the child with the basic necessity such as clothing, food and shelter. When a parent fail to provide these necessity accessory to the children they are neglecting them. This is not saying that parents should be rich but they should be able to provide and care for their children. If children are lacking this, they can become target of being bullied and picked on because they do not have the necessary required material to live a normal life as
