– This means it has the ability to control price.

• Google is not a pure monopoly because it has some competitors.
– Yet it is so dominant in the market that it’s behavior is very different from the behavior of firms under perfect competition.

To consider different roles in the economy we will have to look at competitive markets, monopolies, and oligopolies. We will discuss in this paper exactly how each of these roles play a part in our economy. Some of the things we will discuss are the characteristics of each of these market structures, along with how price is determined in each of these structures. Other topics will include how the output of each market structure is determined in terms of maximizing profits. The last two things we will look at are the barriers to entry if and ultimately the role in which each market structure plays in this economy.…

Edgar is an investor who sees the high gas prices as a chance to make money from American consumers and their constant demand of gasoline, and soon a large demand from increasing car sales in India and China. Over the past several years the increase in crude oil price resulted in a drastic increase in gasoline prices setting record highs every summer. Consumers had to change their way of living, and savvy investors saw this as an opportunity to get in on making a profit, and this is what Edgar plans to do with the two gas stations he wants to purchase. This investment can easily become a nightmare if the gas stations do not produce enough revenue to cover expenses such as paying back the loans needed for the initial purchase, or increasing maintenance costs. But recently crude oil prices have plummeted and this new development can be a prelude to decreasing profits from gas stations. The analysis provided below will discuss…

Not everyone has a “get out of jail free” card in life; unless of course they are playing the classic family board game, Monopoly. Those who monopolize a specific market most definitely do not have a “get out of jail free” card, as they are committing felonies. Both of these different monopolies are a great pleasure to win, but a pain to lose. In this paper I will compare and contrast these two different forms of monopolization.…

    2. To mitigate agency problems between senior executives and shareholders, the compensation committee of the board should devote more to long term incentives; the idea is to align the pocketbook interests of managers directly with those of stockholders, and the reason is to motive a manager and make him or her to act in the interests of the firm's stockholders depends on the structure of his or her compensation package, the threat of dismissal, and the threat of takeover by a new group of owner.…

In the given function, respond is a binary function, which is dependant on the other explanatory variable which aligns with the requirement of the linear probability model (LPM). This is an extention to the zero conditional mean condition which assumes that E(ul(resplast),(avggift),(propresp),(mailsyear))=0 and hence allow for E(ylx) to omit the error term producing P(respond = 1lx)= β(0)+ β(1) resplast+ β(2)avggift+ β(3)propresp+ β(4)mailyear. This allows the interpretation of β(1) to be the degree at which the change of resplast have on the change in the probability for respond=1 under ceteris Paribas.…
