Write a 200- to 300-word response in which you address the following questions:
1. What is the role of police in society? What would happen if the role of the police were lessened as it applies to the theory and practice of community policing? The role of the police is to look after the area. Policing is a form of crime control, Policing refers to prearranged forms of order maintenance, peace keeping, rule or law enforcement, crime investigation, and other forms of investigations. Other meaning is it the governmental department charged with the regulation and control of the affairs of a community, now chiefly the department established to maintain order, enforce the law, and prevent and detect crime. Various changes within the police organization are considered necessary to achieve a new style of policing at the neighborhood level. Among these are changes in organizational structure, decentralizing, flattening, creating teams, and civilianizing, and changes in management, a mission statement that reflects new policing values, strategic planning, supervisory coaching and mentoring, and empowering of officers, and also, changes in information management to establish new systems for evaluating personnel, units, and programs, and new systems for crime analysis, mapping, and resource deployment.
2. How do daily issues such as probable cause affect police from a legal standpoint? How can these issues be improved to aid police organizations in combating crime? Probable Cause; is when there are grounds for suspicion that a person has committed a crime or misdemeanor, and public justice and the good of the community require that the matter should be examined, there is said to be a probable cause for, making a charge against the accused, however malicious the intention of the accuser may have been. And probable cause will be presumed till the contrary appears. In an action, then, for a malicious prosecution, the plaintiff is bound to show total absence of probable cause, whether the original proceedings were civil or criminal. Many years ago law enforcement took out voice recording for evidence when ever they have it and I believe voice recordings should stay in the courts. However, I feel like in order for these policies that are already in place to carry out official duties they; should hire more people to do the job.

Probable cause and Reasonable suspicion are two legal terms used in the United States legal system, in this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the two terms as well as providing examples. Probable cause is the level of facts and evidence required to obtain a warrant for, or as an exception to the warrant requirements for, making an arrest or conducting a personal or property search, etc. when criminal charges are being considered. Courts usually find probable cause when there is a reasonable basis for believing that a crime may have been committed (for an arrest) or when evidence of the crime is present in the place to be searched (for a search). Under exigent circumstances, probable cause can also justify a warrantless search or seizure. Persons arrested without a warrant are required to be brought before a competent authority shortly after the arrest for a prompt judicial determination of probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is the legal standard by which a police officer has the right to briefly detain a suspect for investigatory purposes and frisk the outside of their clothing for weapons, but not drugs. While many factors contribute to a police officer’s level of authority in a given situation, the reasonable suspicion standard requires facts or circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe that a suspect has, is, or will commit a crime. While reasonable suspicion does not require hard evidence, it does require more than a hunch. A combination of particular facts, even if each is individually insignificant, can form the basis of reasonable suspicion. For example, police may have reasonable suspicion to detain someone who fits a description of a criminal suspect, a suspect who drops a suspicious object after seeing police, or a suspect in a high crime area who runs after seeing police.
