Charity
Generosity and charity are often considered two of the best things that one can do, but everything has two sides, thus charity can't be entirely good though it's helpful. Benefactors are admired in general belief but what are their reasons and goals for doing favor to the others?

People believe donating may improve their sense of well-being, some of them are sure that if they give an amount of money to others the greater amount of money will come back to them. Some people do it because of their religious beliefs but there is a wide range of people who take part in charitable activities because of some disorders; they want to fulfill their needs or discomforts by doing good things toward others. For instance Oprah Winfrey –who has donated millions to charities and organizations and has established a lot of schools and houses for little poor girls and women - was a little poor girl. She was the victim of sexual abuse and she gave birth at the age of 14 to a dead boy. After this hard time she decided to help the other people especially the women and now she feels relaxed by helping people women who have the same problems that she did.

Totally making contribution has good effects on the society by eliminating poverty and developing science among people. But it can be harmful too. For example researches show that some people who are supported by charity organizations aren’t used to working hard and they expect others to help them.

In conclusion donating can be harmful while it's an investment in the world for the future. In my book philanthropists shouldn't help poor people in all cases; they are just supposed to provide a situation in which needy people try to live their best lives.

Another huge problem with the whole humanitarian model is the recollection of non-financial donations. Around the globe people donate their cloth, toys and more with the expectation of supporting and benefiting a cause. More often than not, that is not the case. A lot of time is dedicated to the sorting of donations, to ultimately dispose what isn’t useful. In some cases logisticians end up delivering the excess to a neighborhood, causing further distortions because not everyone received…

In his essay, Deaton claims that sending money to save lives doesn’t have the impact that effective altruists believe and can even cause harm to those they are trying to help. He argues that if we truly want to help the most people, we should solve the larger issues that are behind the poverty and lack of healthcare that effective altruists commonly target with their donations. While it is true that only sending money to charities won't necessarily solve all of the problems in poor countries, Deaton overlooks the importance of the lives that are saved through these donations. There are still many people who would die or suffer without the work of charities like those that effective altruists donate to. We should not only try to create larger political and societal change, but also…

There seems to be an inexhaustible number of reasons that one person might go out of his way to assist another. One of the more interesting of these is to give to soothe one's conscience, or to avoid the guilt that comes with not offering help when you can. Ma Joad used this reason to feed the starving children at the first Hooverville they stayed at. She looked at those kids and tried to avoid giving them food so she could feed her family. Even Uncle Tom had a hard time eating his food with those hungry children looking on. Ma eventually soothed her conscience by giving the kids the dregs of the soup kettle, though she knew she should have given the entire helping to her family, as they had less than enough themselves.…

Charity is the kindly or sympathetic disposition to aid the needy as a result of deep feeling or understanding. Charity exists in many different forms. It can be seen in the forms of helping the poor, those who have disabilities, and efforts for a cure to disease. People often neglect charity from their daily lives, but there is always someone in need. There is no financial gain; instead, a feeling of self-worth and respect is produced. Timothy…

Countless times I wished to be face to face with the child or group I was indirectly supporting through monetary donations or through volunteer work and somehow provide them with more than just a temporary solution to their lifelong dilemma. I believe that the only true solution is to educate and provide them the means of which to construct a maintainable lifestyle without the constant support of others. In a perfect world, organizations such as American Red cross, Unicef, the Salvation Army, and every other organization that relies on donations would not exist and we’d simply live a life in which we primarily depend on ourselves. Simply because something seems unattainable or beyond our grasp doesn't mean we shouldn’t at least strive for it and that is exactly what my continued volunteer work will aim to do: work towards a perfect world. This idea reminds me of a commonly used expression by Norman Vincent Peal: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the…

Singer addresses the issues of why people do not donate. He says sometimes people believe that it is the government who should aid people in need, but in the end, he says it is the individual's responsibility as well as the government's there should be both public and private contributions. Another reason people do not donate is because they believe the society in need might become dependent upon aid; for example, people being feed today might starve next year because the funds run out.…

When I think of humanitarians, I think of “world savers”, people who want to save the world and the earth by the end of the day. It is when someone has the overwhelming need to help others in their time of need of out selflessness. What motivates people to help others that are less fortunate? People feel it is their obligation and duty as American’s to help others who are less fortunate and who are suffering in a time of need. While, others believe they will gain something spiritual, economical freedom, or just do it to feel better about themselves.…

In conclusion, nonprofits have done and will continue to do so much for the world. Without these organizations there would be no attention brought to the world wide problems. There are so many problems throughout the world that many people do not know about, and because of some nonprofit organizations, the world is beginning to become more and more aware of the problems. Being involved with the nonprofits can bring one closer to the world wide problems and also benefit the volunteer. Volunteering can benefit the volunteer themselves in many ways such as the physical shape of the volunteer, the mind, or advancements in the career of the volunteer. Although the volunteers are looking to benefit themselves, the most important part of volunteering is the idea of helping others in need.…

being one of them, so if you are in no situation to give money, there are ample ways to show that you care with no cost to you. Donation is a huge part of aid organizations, admittedly a lot of times donation means giving money, but there are many different meanings. There are organizations such as Free Rice, partnered with World Food Programme, that give education and rice to impoverished communities worldwide at the expense that you take a few minutes out of your day to play a couple games at freerice.com. This is an educational website that I was introduced to in elementary school. We were allowed to play games on this site after we had finished our work in computer labs. Back then it was about seeing who could get the most rice, ten grains for every correct answer, none of us realized how much of an impact we were making. If each child of a second grade class can give a couple thousand grains of rice in just the five minutes of extra time they have after assignments, think of the difference one school can make if they set five minutes of each day for that purpose only. This would have saved Mariam and Laila a lot of suffering when they had to sell everything they owned after a fire destroyed their only income (Hosseini 304). It would also immensely aid the HEAL Africa Hospital by taking food off their ceaseless list of burdens, because the people they help are usually in no situation to pay for care, not until…

Donating, giving, and sharing are three related values that the majority of households in America all claim to practice and believe in. If this is true, then why is it so often that charities are underfunded? The problem is that many people seek happiness for themselves over the happiness of others. I believe that this is natural in human beings. When we are already so busy taking care of ourselves, I think we forget that other people could use a hand as well. Another underlying factor may be that many of us are not raised around charity. Instead of volunteering at shelters, America’s youth is often found at sports practices or at home fidgeting with technology, and until recently, I was no different.…

    People Helping People

My interpretation of “people helping people” is “people helping people” can be looked at as a selfless act of encouragement to one individual or a whole community. By helping those with a certain need to only get the profit of satisfaction is a fundamental philosophy to keep our society well-endowed and strong as a community. I have personally demonstrated this in my community by participating in my school’s Operation Christmas Child to help children across the world see what a better life is and to help them reach it on earth, and with God. I also volunteered for four summers at our City’s Park’s Program as a junior counselor, watching children and giving them a place to enjoy their summer outside and also educate them as we took field trips to the Corning Museum of Glass. I personally have lived by my own interpretation of the selfless philosophy of “people helping people”…

Sometimes, people will see a need in the world, and decide that they need to help. Even though many actions seem like they are for others, but the motivations behind it are to help themselves. People who need service hours, do service just because they need the hours, not because they want to help others. When someone does something good for others, they will get a happy feeling and they may do more service to make themselves feel good. Every action has a motivating factor of helping…
