Characters In Zodiac
In Romina Russell's story, Zodiac, people live in a different galaxy where the 12 houses of the zodiac reside on their individual planets. Each hose has a Guardian and Rho is the Guardian of Cancer. She foresees a danger to the other house and believes that it is a villain from a childhood tale and myth, Ochus. She also believes he is the one who attacked her own house. She tries to warn the other house about the threat but no one believes her since she is only 7 and Ochus is just a myth and no one has proof that he is real. Their houses were attacked soon after and millions were killed since they didn't heed Rho’s warnings and evacuate. One lesson this story suggests is that you should be open to new ideas because they may end up affecting your life for the better. From chapter 12, we see everybody’s disapproval of Rho’s new idea. They are not open to it throughout the book from there because she is inexperienced, has no proof, and Ochus is just a villain from a children’s tale. Romina Explains, “...They don't take my readings seriously because they don’t take me seriously. They don’t respect me.” This illustrates that they don’t think she has enough experienced and can’t be trusted. Romina also writes, “I think the salt water you drank at the ceremony is addling your brain.” This is …show more content…
No one will accept Rho because she is inexperienced and she is blaming the disasters on a villain from a children's tale.. Many authority figures are going to great lengths to reject Rho’s ideas because they don't want change or maybe it's part of a bigger picture. Not being open to new ideas doesn't only affect the ones who could be benefited, but also the one trying to present their new idea. Try new things and be open to new opportunities because you may make a change that will make you regret trying it

The excepted social theory of civilization’s social process was made by the scientists Adam Smith, John Millar, Adam Ferguson, and lastly Lord Kames. This social theory was that there were many levels of civility in a society. These levels were hunting, pasturage, agriculture, and commerce. One example of the first level which is hunting is the the Native Americans. The excepted social process is that a country was to go through all of these levels by starting out on hunting and eventually the society would mature and work its way up to the point of being a commercially based society. Now this process helped shaped the colonies culture of “civility” because the colonists were never hunters. When the colonists got to the North America they already knew that their society was going to stem from agriculture. That is what happened in the southern colonies. These colonies produced tobacco, indigo, and rice. Then after a large period of agricultural growth in the southern colonies the northern colonies started to produce raw materials to trade back to England. Then after that they started producing finished products but this did not go along with Britain’s mercantilistic policies. Either way the colonies culture was to trade goods and raw materials commercially. This is what makes the colonies so unique. This is because for most countries this process of climbing the metaphorical latter of social civility would have taken so much longer. That is how the social theory of civilization’s social process was made and how it came to shape the cultural civility in the American colonies.…

“The characters, stories, themes and lessons of Greek mythology have shaped art and literature for thousands of years. They appear in Renaissance paintings such as Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Raphael’s Triumph of Galatea and writings like Dante’s Inferno; Romantic poetry and libretti; and scores of more recent novels, plays and films.” I think that it is great that the ancient Greeks came up with these myths. When I first started reading and listening about the Greek myths, I thought they were totally absurd. However, I now think that some myths tell entertaining stories and teach great lessons. Through this paper I will tell you about one of the myths we share today in our culture, share what Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung had to say about mythic structures of the human psyche, and explain why myths such as these bring us together socially and culturally.
