Good leadership is important in any organization. A successful leader is one that is effective in his decision-making in regards to the vision, the strategy and motivation of others, which is necessary in leading. After careful research of the meaning of the term ‘good leadership’, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no specific definition. However, most definitions involved the intentional influence of others in support of reaching a common goal or realizing a particular vision. The most fundamental role of a leader is to define the organizational goals, formulate plans, and organize people to achieve the goals through the execution of planning. There are many different forms of leadership and it can be defined in various ways depending on the industry or organization. In health care organizations, leadership is not only important, but also crucial for its success. [Governance Institute]

This paper is to analyze the leadership style and performance of the Director of Patient Accounting of Sinai Hospital in Maryland – where I’ve worked for almost four years. Just a few months before I was hired, William Rew accepted the challenge of leading the Patient Accounting Department – where patients’ accounts are managed and settled to create the cash flow that the organization as a whole needs to operate. Firstly, I don’t really work under Mr. Rew – better known as ‘Bill’, but rather with him and his team members to process, manage and close a portion of the hospital’s receivables, thus creating cash flows. My company, ClaimAssist, LLC – a medical and commercial insurance collection organization, was contracted to assist in the backlog of motor vehicle and workman compensation accounts. The decision to outsource these accounts is one of those decisions that a visionary leader must make well and I believe that it was the right one. Motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) happen on a daily basis but we have managed to
