This essay will discuss the mission and vision statements of the Goodwill of Southern Arizona; it also will discuss how the organization is governed and staffed, who the key stakeholders are and how they influence the organization. Some of the strategies will include marketing, public relations and community involvement to name a few. Then the essay will discuss relationship strategies and the importance of collaboration with the community. Finally, the essay will discuss how the organization handles diversity and further cover different environmental trends that contain politics, economy, and technology, and how the organization handles dealing with these trends.
Mission and Vision
The Goodwill industries of Southern Arizona offer one on one job search assistance to anyone in the community, including resume writing and interview assistance. Their stated mission is: “Our mission is to provide services, training and jobs to people with barriers to employment” (Goodwill Southern Arizona, 2013). They also work with the Pima County and the Youth employment programs, along with other agencies to help get potential employees trained and educated on needed skills to succeed. The Goodwill’s vision is as follows: “Our vision is that we are a mission-driven, self-sufficient organization characterized by collaboration and outreach. Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona is dedicated to the ideal of strengthening our families and community through the Power of Work!” (Goodwill Southern Arizona, 2013). The Goodwill is also promotes literacy by partnering up with the “Reading Seed” and organization that provides free books to low income children. The Goodwill of Southern Arizona is also considered one of the major employers Tucson, employing over 500 people from the community.
