Character Analysis Of Lily Stoilova's Character In 'Lara Croft'
Lily Stoilova, a Lara Croft fan, represents just how intense Lara Croft’s influence is on women. She is a fan who “needs to become her” (Lancaster, 8) to enter a “fantasy world in order to help discover who [she is]” (Lancaster, 8). Essentially, she dresses up as Lara Croft in an effort to become her. She does so because she attributes Lara Croft with intelligence and skill” (Lancaster, 8). The irony is that it is ‘the players’ who are truly intelligent “who must manipulate [Croft] in order to get her to run, jump, shoot at the right moment, and solve puzzles to succeed” (Lancaster, 8). Lily’s iconic role model, who represents so much agency to her, actually has none. Conclusively, through Lara Croft, and the video game medium and other adjunct
