Character Analysis: Hi Guys !
Hi Guys!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
Reading this week’s content, it was interesting to see what differentiates the Warner Brothers from the Disney Company. Throughout Warner Bros. company, the quirks and humor is what made it differ and become unique within each animation they created.

1.“Freleng continues, “but he trusted me quite a bit, and he let me do whatever I wanted to do, as long as it didn't cost him a lot of money. You couldn't do that today, because we didn't even use union people. Our cameraman at the time, John Burton, was the live-action cameraman. We just took a black-and-white camera, went out and shot whatever we want wanted to, without asking” (Maltin, pg. 242). “We kept the focus on Mouse vs. Bunny, brash verbal sass vs. something more silent and Chaplinesque, Warner's witty limericks vs. Disney's humorous ballads, Duck vs. Duck” (Wagstaff). “The biggest difference between the two studio’s approaches is the difference between Wit and Humor, with the enjoyment of Wit relating to a general sadism in the viewer, just as the enjoyment of Humor relates to a general masochism” (Wagstaff). “After all, in a Warner Bros. short, it is not uncommon to see a duck getting his bill blown off with a shotgun at point-blank range” (Wagstaff). These three quotes are perfect examples of how both company’s animations style and attitude differ towards their work. Typically, Warner Brother’s animations contain more characters that are violent overall. Comparatively, the Disney style of animation is much more detailed and contains less violence, which is more child friendly. Even inanimate objects have a mind of their own. However, the charming characters like Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig were lovably unique, witty and not to mention

Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…

Walt Disney revolutionized the world of animation. "Walt Disney pioneered the art of animated film cartoons."(Simon, 8). Walt Disney symbolized the very best in animation and entertainment by being both an innovator and a man with vision. Animation had a long history prior to Walt Disney 's life. Even though animation was nothing new, Walt Disney did it like no one had ever seen. The first pictures of motion appeared on cave walls. People drew pictures of animals over and over again in multiple positions; sometimes with several sets of legs. If you quickly passed your eyes over the drawings, the figures almost seemed to move. In the 1800 's, machines that imitated motion, were invented. Thomas Edison created one of the first motion picture machines in 1889. George Eastman, of Eastman Kodak, created film which would move continuously. With these two inventions, movies with live action were possible (Selden 28).…

During the golden age of Hollywood short cartoons, from the 1930s to the 1950s, Disney and Warner Bros. were rivals. Disney animators had far greater resources at their disposal, and their animation was more elaborate and detailed than the simpler style of the Warner product. Warner cartoonists, despite their limited budgets, fought back by exploiting the comic fantasy possible in animated films and playing with the medium in imaginative ways.…
