The all hide in the house but every night a griever takes just one boy and they all go back into the maze. Finally Thomas goes to talk to the girl and she says that the maze is a code. They try to figure it out but they only get words that don't form a sentence. Thomas decided that he needs to get stung by a griever so he could go through the changing and bring back a memory that will help him get everyone out of the maze. He figures out that there's a hole in the cliff and if you jump into it, it leads you to a room
