If you had the chance to go back in time and change your childhood, would you? What would you change? In the Twilight Zone episode “Walking distance” Martin Sloan unknowingly had this opportunity. When Martin stopped for gas he noticed the town he grew up in, curious about it he went into town. Soon Martin realized he was in a different time period, the time of his childhood. Once Martin realized he was back in 1932 a time period where he was only eleven, he tries confronting his parents tell them that he was Martin from the future; however, he only got the door slammed in his face. Soon Robert Sloan, Martin’s dad finds out that the older gentleman is really Martin and warns him of what could happen if he stays around. Earlier in the episode Robert Sloan tells Martin “I don’t want to hurt you, I don’t want you to get in trouble, but if you hang around here, there may be trouble”. Unfortunately, Martin did not listen and ended up with a lifelong limp from just changing one event in his past. Even though Robert did not know what could happen if he stayed in town he knew it wouldn’t be good, because you can’t change your past. No matter how appealing it sounds to go back in time to change something in your childhood its probably not smart, because it could possibly make things worse, like it did for Martin. It could possibly make thing better too however, there is no real way of telling. With Martin altering his past and causing a lifelong limp there might be events the younger Martin had to miss because he had a broken leg. There are reasons we cannot time travel it will only make things worse whether it for you or for someone else there will always be
