Major changes in TV industry in the recent 50 years!

When the Netflix app on your phone notifies you the latest episode of your

favourite TV show is available, who will wonder how much the TV industry has changed from the old black-and-white days to modern days in the recent fifty years?!

Starting from the most noticeable difference between then and now - the quantity

of production. Fifty years ago, most TV programs are news programs and sport events. Few TV shows, such as “The Andy Griffith
Show”, “My Three Sons” and “Coronation Street” were available back then. What’s worth mentioning is that some of these long-run TV shows, like “Coronation Street” are still available today. One thing they have in common is that the producer uses real actors and sceneries because of limitations of

technologies back then. No special effects were available and crews struggled with poor equipments that’s ten times larger than modern equipments today yet provides 1/10 of the quality available today.!

Speaking of quantity, all Programs were all in

Black and White until 1972. Televisions uses the 405-line

television system, which was already called “high definition” at that time since its name came through comparing that with even earlier standards, not today’s modern 1080p or
4K standards. Neither stereo sound or 3D broadcasting was available on TV back then.
A 405-line
That’s why people used to go to big cinemas as a social event in order to have an immersive experience of watch films.
Due to limited spaces, relatively small cinema holds up to 3,000 people simultaneously back then while today even huge ones only hold 500 people with over ten different screens.!
