CHANGE _ AWAY MICHAEL GOW
PRELIM ENGLISH- AS. TASK 1- CHANGE

Hand-In Component:
Logo for new ABC Programme, “Changing Worlds”

The prosperous image above conveys several ideas centered on how the world addresses change, and how it is necessary for the growth of maturity and wisdom of an individual. The underlying message of the world being printed on the footprint, suggests that the World Walks for Change. Walking is a natural way of moving forward, and is essential in one’s life which alludes to the assumption that Change is almost inevitable. The only way to move forward in life is to accept changes, and to not be afraid of what accordingly occurs.
This idea of change is suggested initially through shape, salience, and symbolism. The shape of the circle surrounding the footprint, and the toes, being in a round shape, symbolise the world growing with the existence of change. It also makes them aware that the world isn’t complete without change. Subsequently, the tone of colour in the surrounding circle is fading into the footprint, as the colours become more bold as you move inwards, which grabs the audience’s attention to the footprint, and alluding to the assumption/imagery that the World walks for Change. Also the toes being coloured as five unique colours, symbolise that change exists within all humankind. Insummation, this logo adheres comprehensively to the premise of the show, exploring a wide idea of change amongst the world.

Water contamination is vastly becoming an alarming issue across the world. We rely on clean water to survive, yet right now we are heading towards a water crisis. Changing climate patterns are threatening lakes and rivers, and key sources that we tap for drinking water are being overdrawn or tainted with pollution (www.nrdc.org). Clean and plentiful water is the cornerstone of prosperous communities. Yet as we enter the 21st century, swelling demand and changing climate patterns are draining rivers and aquifers and pollution is threatening the quality of what remains. NRDC is integrating our expertise in pollution prevention, water efficiency and climate change to sustain America's precious water resources, working to advance smart water efficiency policies to ensure that communities get the water they need while keeping our lakes, rivers, and streams full and healthy (www.nrdc.org).…

Purpose - Logos are very important as they represent the face of companies. This is the first thing that people see. Change is a process that affects individuals and their environments. Some people choose to embrace change, while others resist it. “Macbeth”; the song “The Times They Are A-Changin’” and the episode of the Twilight Zone, “A Stop at Willoughby” all successfully convey the notion of change and demonstrate how individuals and societies can embrace or resist change.…

Change. From the first breath inhaled to the last, we change hundreds, thousands, of millions of times throughout the entirety. These changes may not always be so obvious, whereas others are blaringly distinct. Change is inevitable, especially as the environment, technology, economy, and people develop. Us, human beings, we are flexible, able to adapt and survive. However, as we adapt to these changes, we can not let these changes compromise our beliefs and principles by which we abide and hold close to our hearts.…

I have developed to a great extent and understanding of the way change is diverse and complex and is very much of the human condition and how it can affect the world and others in it and myself. Change has taught me that people can be different and still belong in this complex world. I have learnt that change is multidimensional and can cause massive impacts in the world and shares the same human values. Nam Le’s fictional short stories, in The Boat and Forrest Gump and a film directed by Robert Zemeckis illustrates that change often involves struggle and hardship but can prepare us for the challenges that life may bring and the new opportunities offered for personal growth and overcoming obstacles.…

Globally we are faced about 2.4 billion people without access to safe water and adequate sanitation, generally located in developing communities. Perhaps, in developing communities the current large scale of systems for supplying water, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment are not environmentally sustainable because it is difficult to close the cycle of water and nutrients (Ho 2004). The effect of these other measures on disease burden is largely confined to urban areas and is considerably less than that of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion (Cairncross, et.al, 2003). In future 20 years, globally have expected that an additional 2 billion will live in towns and cities, especially in developing countries. Still many of sewage plant in developing countries are not treated that causing a pollution to rivers (Langergraber,…

Sometimes, you can take the organization’s name literally and from there create an icon that will become memorable and easy to recall for years to come. Let’s take Domino’s Pizza as our example. It’s so painfully obvious to have a domino as a logo for it, but it actually works. The designer didn’t make the extra effort to try to infuse hidden imagery and make the domino look like the letter D. The logo is simply a simple and straightforward representation of the fast food joint’s name.…

The combination of safe drinking water and hygienic sanitation facilities is a precondition for health and for success in the fight against poverty, hunger, child deaths and gender inequality. UNICEF works in more than 90 countries around the world to improve water supplies and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and to promote safe hygiene practices. All UNICEF water and sanitation programmes are designed to contribute to the Millennium Development Goal for water and sanitation: to halve, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe water and basic sanitation. Key strategies for meeting the water, sanitation and hygiene challenges are to:…
