There are many organizations that physician assistants can join to connect with other physician assistants and keep up with current issues taking place in the profession. The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) is a national professional organization for physician assistants that practice in the United States.1 The AAPA represents 108,500 certified physician assistants throughout the country.2 For members, tools and resources are provided to further improve the quality and accessibility of health care. This organization holds annual conferences across the country for physician assistants (this year the annual conference will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada).3 I believe it would be beneficial for me to join this organization when I am practicing as a physician assistant because I will be able to connect with many physician assistants from across the country as well as learn about issues in my field and how to improve the quality of care given. I will be comparing Virginia and Maine in the similarities and differences of the Nurse Practice Act. Virginia and Maine have policies regulating the education, application, and licensure for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and licensed vocational nurses. Virginia and Maine are compact license states allowing nursing to practice between thirty and ninety days while awaiting licensure from the new state board of nursing. Virginia requires continuing education for renewal of licensure while Maine does not require continuing education or professional development (Maine State Board of Nursing, 2017).…

It was here that I gained my first real understanding as to exactly what goes into geriatric care and how different healthcare professionals such as dieticians, physical therapists, nurses, CNAs, and physicians, coordinate together to provide complete care for residents.…

why i want to be a CNA

    • 3 Pages

I don't understand, while being a CNA is hard, it is not rocket science. You basically have to work, and care. So many CNAs don't do either one. I don't know how they go home and sleep knowing that they left their residents soaked, cold, and dirty. Why don't they just go work at a gas station. Very few things make me as angry as when the residents are not getting the care they DESERVE. I want the opportunity every day to make an impact on people's lives in a positive and much needed way. We, future CNA's, get paid for more than simply washing people, making beds and all of the other tasks that go along with the job. We have chosen a profession that demands caring from us. We need to show patience and compassion daily, no matter what. People may think that becoming a CNA is a job just anyone can do. This is not true! It takes a certain type of person to do the work of a nursing assistant. I am proud to be a Future CNA! Yes, I may become "only a CNA" in the eyes of some people, but to others I will be much more.…
