What do you consider the qualities of a good teacher?

Being a good teacher requires commitment. I believe that is the most important difference between a teacher and a good teacher. A good teacher should inspire his students and this is only possible when he loves his job and shows great enthusiasms to affect his students. It is also important for a good teacher to create an encouraging and inspiring atmosphere to foster learning. Good teachers should have a good rapport with students to lower their inhibition level. Students tend to connect with their teachers and it is a good teacher who use this relationship to the advantage of students. A good teacher also has good discipline skills and teaching skills. Combination of these skills will enable them to maintain a well-organized and academically successful classes. A good teacher should be expert on his fields and be always prepared to answer questions and keep the material interesting for students. Using appropriate teaching methods and activities based on learners’ needs requires sound theoretical knowledge. A good teacher who has strong pedagogical content knowledge will use variety in his classroom and thus keep students on alert and motivated all the time. While focusing on students constitutes an enormous part of being a good teacher, there are other elements, as well. Collaborating with other teachers is a good quality in a teacher. Teaching cannot take place through one teacher’s efforts, it needs organization and planning. Each teacher should follow a similar path to create consistency and therefore each teacher should be willing to cooperate.
