The use of cell phones in school is a controversial subject. There is a definite defining line between administration on one side and students on the other. The amazing thing about cell phones is that they are no longer just used for calling or texting. They have become an essential multi-tool wonder. Today’s cell phone is cutting-edge technology at your fingertips. While students do understand the apprehension of faculty to allow cells phone use school, we too have reasons why the use of cell phones in school can be a positive thing. I believe students should not just be permitted to use cell phones; they should be required to use them. Cell phones don’t just allow students to stay connected with family and friends, they are also an excellent learning resource, cell phones can help students be more organized, they can be used in case of emergency, schools would save money on textbooks, and cells phones should be used under certain restrictions.
To begin with, cell phones make it possible for students to stay in touch with family and friends. A student can call home and ask a family member to bring them a forgotten assignment or lunch money. Also, cell phones allow parents to keep track of where their children are before, during, and after school. Students can also connect with friends. They can connect with them not just because it’s a fun thing to do. The teacher can ask you to text or email your friends when they are absent. This lets them know what’s going on in class and to inform them of any missed homework assignments. When used responsibly, a cell phone can be an excellent communication tool.
Also, cell phones are a marvelous learning resource. Instead of using computers or books at school, students can easily pull out their cell phones to assist them. Students can use tools such as the calculator and the internet to help them with numerous assignments. I know when I’m sitting in Geometry and I forget my calculator, I always

    According to the YouTube video "Cell Phones in School", it states how having internet at the fingertips of students, it can bring the curriculum further and more in depth than the textbooks allow. Having the curriculum at a student's fingertips, adds so much more than the textbook could possibly provide the student with.
