The most saddest part of this novel is when Celeste got separated apart from her parents. That is the most saddest part of this story because imagine just separating apart from your family. The protagonist will feel sad and depressed because she is missing her family. And including that you don’t know if you’re going to see them again because this story is taken place in the middle in a war.And there is a dictator taking over Chile due to the war. And being in another country. That got to be the scary and saddest part of the novel.

    Connecting the snoring, the rain and Mama’s hair is to give the scene a calming and cozy atmosphere. This section of “Hair” compares all the safe and comforting things in Esperanza’s life to convey that when she experiences them it makes her feel secure. This is similar to a security blanket that children have as a baby, they hold them to feel safe when their parents are not close or all the time. Esperanza expressing that her mother’s hair comforts her, shows how close she is to her mother because just looking at her hair makes her feel safe. However, this was not the case for many children in Esperanza’s position, numerous parents would have financial and marriage problems at the least and when the stress would build up, they would take it out on their children. Many children needed something like Esperanza’s mother’s hair so that they would feel safe without looking for another more harmful way to distract themselves from the pressure of their daily lives. Furthermore, Esperanza was extremely fortunate because her parents loved her and was for the most part safe at home. The effect of linking Esperanza’s father’s snoring, the rain and her mama’s hair on the audience was to create a soothing ambience and take a break working about growing up and the dangers in that process. This chapter was the most serene chapter so far in the book because she is talking about peaceful things in her life. On the contrary, the other chapters (so far) have been discussing growing up and the pressures of developing into a woman/adult. The author wanted to discuss these pleasures to take a break from her troubles so that the story would not become dark. In conclusion, the author wrote the book like how Esperanza lived and thought, she was constantly reminded of the troubles of maturing, but had reminders, like her mother’s hair, that would ease her stress and remind her it was…

The novel talking about the Fairchild, an Uruguayan plane crashed in the Andes. The passengers on the plane were 45, and many of them were from the Old Christian rugby team include some of their family members. In the crash 40 members had survived from 45, and by the time they spend it on the Andes the number had reduced to 16. The novel also talking about the horrors they faced on the mountain like the cold, the lack of food and water, nevertheless; they experienced the death of their friends and family members. They learned many treks to keep them alive on the Andes, they learned how to stay warm, they melted the snow to drink and they ate the dead bodies flesh to survive from starvation. In the scene wherein they get a hold of Cecilia’s diary, the director establishes just how much of a mystery these girls are to the boys. We are never given a clear picture as to the girls’ white-picket-fence suburban lives and the things that might have lead to Cecilia’s suicide; only rumors and gossip offered by neighbors, narrated by the boys; that’s why the diary serves as both a vehicle for the advancement of the plot and an important medium to communicate to us the Lisbon girls’ thoughts and feelings in a distant yet very personal way. The boys wanted to know what could have triggered the death of one them, and in knowing more about them, they come to fall in love with the elusive Lisbon girls. Even the diary prop, innocent in the way that it was made--with the stickers of rainbows, drawings of flowers, written in beautiful cursive--contained incredibly sad anecdotes about Cecilia and the girls.     Many people face pain and hardships throughout life and learn to accept reality using courage and strength. In the “Long Way Home” an excerpt from Miracle in the Andes, Nando Parrado faces many hardships. In the beginning of the novel Nando is heartbroken due to the fact that his plane has crashed in the Andes Mountains, and that many people including his best friends, and his mother, and sister have died. His thoughts haunt him, telling him to survive, and not “waste tears”, as they will be needed for his survival. Nando remembers his father and his heart fills with joy; he imagines how is father must be feeling, after hearing the news of the crash. He quietly whispers to his father “I am alive”. Nando describes the mountains being very strong and powerful, and lacking warmth. Nando vows to his father that he will ‘come home”, no matter how long it takes, and how worse the conditions become. Nando faces many difficulties as the story progresses, but his promise to his father gives him courage and strength to keep on going instead of giving up. “We all knew our fight for survival would be uglier and more harrowing than we had imagines, but we had made the declaration to the mountain that we would not surrender. In a small, sad way, I had taken a first step back toward my father.” Throughout the excerpt conditions worsen, many more of Nando’s friends die, and the food becomes scarce. With courage and strength, Nando decides that he must climb the mountain to save himself and reach home to his father. He takes a few friends with him for the journey. Along the way, he faces many hardships, but his determination and courage help him reach his goal. One day, Nando realizes that their pilot was wrong, and gave them incorrect information of “passing Curico”. As soon as he learns that his hopes shatter. In his thoughts he begins to think and realize that death has an opposite, which is love. As soon as he realizes this his fear of death “lifts”. “My fears lifted, and I…
