Celebrities in politics.
I will get straight to the point, I believe that when celebrities get involved in

politics they draw attention away from the actual political issues and campaigns at hand.

Having film stars in politics for endorsements will definitely draw a crowds and more

importantly votes. Because people love and become inspired by the characters played by an individual and in the end they are in fact become blinded by who that individual really is. It is as if you give a dangerous person, or as I will refer to him as, "an evil dower" some candy. Now a politician by him self is an evil dower who does not have candy. Without the candy it is very hard for an evil dower to attract little children into a car but as soon a candy, or even better a child's favorite candy is introduced, this when put into context being a favorite actor, that is all the child sees and is blinded to whomever posses the candy, thus getting into the car. This in essence is basically the reaction of an obsessed fan when celebrities become involved in politics.

If you really want to dissect the purpose for celebrities in politics, or celebrity endorsements in general you are able to create six different categories, establishing credibility, attracting attention, associative benefits, psychographic connection, demographic connection and mass appeal. What does this all mean? Absolutely nothing! All the reasons why celebrities are brought into an election are reasons that should be irrelevant to the voters. Most celebrities have never actually done any social work, some of them are unaware of what's going on, in the past some celebrities have actually debated the ideals of another individual that was in there own party without actually knowing it.

Up to now I have only been referring to actors as being celebrities but if we look it up in the dictionary, a celebrity is simply a famous person, renown fame. Doesn't that mean a politician could in fact also be a celebrity? Yes, Julius Caesar, Napoleon

For instance, the rapper well known as Snoop Dogg has the persona as a man who occasionally indulges in the use of recreational drugs because of the songs he makes. These lives are publicized through tabloids or T.V. shows that exemplify the personal lives of these highly regarded icons. Through these glimpses at the lives of celebrities, people see small and likely manipulated fragments of these people’s lives and begin to form opinions about them without actually knowing the person.…

The most unexpected individual to be shunned by society is a smiling, recognizable face of American television. Shunning has been an integral part of human society from its inception, when man first left behind individual lifestyles and banded together to create the precursors to modern civilization. All cultures, societies, and civilizations contain those that would seem unwanted, which ultimately results in the shunning of individuals. When a community shuns a citizen within it, it is because the said individual has been marked by society, most likely due to their actions or their heritage. This demarcation of an individual puts them on a pedestal before their peers, on which their actions are constantly monitored. The publicity of celebrity lives often offers a greater chance to be shunned by society. The pitchman of Shamwow and Slap-Chop products, Vince Shlomi, experienced such degradation when he was arrested and publicly humiliated after assaulting a prostitute. It’s an unfortunate…

Celebrities should be able to voice their political opinions. They can bring a greater audience to controversial issues and bring about change. Not only should we remember that actors are people, with feelings and opinions rather than robots. Celebrities are not just for our entertainment and it's important to acknowledge that factor. Celebrities, like all of us should be able to voice their political opinions. In fact, because of their enormous platform and ability to reach a big audience, I believe they have an obligation to use their First Amendment Rights…

Scandals are seen in everyday life and throughout history. Scandal is something that brings about shame or disgrace to a community or individual. People document many scandals, and put them in newspapers, on television, the radio, and they even wrote books about it for others to enjoy. In today’s media we see celebrities “shunned” all the time whether it’s something as small as a bad wardrobe or bad habits they have to their crimes like one of the most notorious American gangsters known as Al Capone. As the scandals and shunning today are different today the media still does stories and writes articles of the person and tells the whole world of what they did and disgraces the person and shows them as a lesser individual.…

Celebrities have the opportunity to largely influence others and make a difference. On Twitter I follow an actress, Cassie Scerbo who is a youth ambassador for “boo2bullying” and the founder of band with me, an organization that sells wrist bands to raise money for different charities. She recently participated in the 18for18 benefiting the Somaly Mam Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to ending modern slavery and empowering its survivors as part of the solution. In most of her TV roles, Cassie plays the bully or ruthless girl. By following her on Twitter, I get a glimpse of her authenticity that isn’t portrayed in her roles as an actress. Celebrities like Cassie are doing remarkable things with their social presence by supporting great causes. They are making a change and encouraging greatness with every message and tweet that they…

First and foremost, it is an undeniable truth that celebrities extend an influence on us. According to Singapore’s local publication, The Straits Times, 80% of the population refers to celebrities when choosing how to dress or deciding what to purchase. This is solely based on what we see them being photographed in, in the media. In fact, celebrities undertake more than this, often utilizing their prevalent positions to instill healthy and beneficial change within our society. Take Oprah Winfrey as a classic example. She is an inspiration to young girls and women hailing from diverse backgrounds, across continents. Oprah has achieved more than influencing and inspiring others. She and her team successfully highlighted the issue of domestic violence, sexual abuse and racial segregation. Besides, in 2007, Winfrey started the ‘Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls’ in South Africa to promote the importance of education for under-privileged girls. Oprah is without a doubt, one of the greatest, and most sincere and genuine philanthropists in today’s society.…

Celebrities are the role models of many, especially younger aged people. They are idolized and copied. Their actions have some of the biggest influences on our generation, mostly because of the hype created by the media. Their actions are constantly being talked about in the media, and to society's growing youth, this has caused a great problem. They do outrageous things and are often involved in scandals. Their lifestyles themselves are often one big scandal. They are thought of as god-like, so what they do must not be wrong. They are famous, so they are always right; they have to be. This is the perception of American citizens. They think it is okay to imitate celebrities from what they wear to the lives they live, because they are of higher class. They are the role models, even though they are corrupting the morals of people. Especially now with programs such as MTV, celebrities are being exposed everyday, and these innocent children and teens are being forced images and guidelines to follow in order to be like their favorite celebrity. This is a danger to society. It changes and corrupts everyone's morals.…

All movies that are made in Hollywood today affect our society in many different ways. First, I would like to address one of the most popular movie types which are movies that depict war. Personally, I have watched many different war films. Most of them have a deep emotional theme that goes along with them. These films can offend and often do make veterans angry at the false information portrayed. Almost all of these films you can plainly see the use of propaganda and the depiction of false information. Typically when I think of war movies I think of big muscular soldiers with a gun in one hand and a cigarette in the other. It is a fact that once these movies started being made tobacco companies saw a very big rise in the sale of their product. Of course the big businesses…
