Causes Of World War I
World War I commonly known during the time it started (Jul 28, 1914 – Nov 11, 1918) was a war in Europe known as “The Great War”. It was called the Great War because it was greater than any war that had happened before. Approximately over 8 million died, over 59 million troops mobilised, and over 29 million were injured. They also called it the “War To End All Wars.” Obviously this wasn’t correct since a certain person with a weird looking mustache who was also in this war resulted the Second World War by attacking Poland in 1939. The main reason World War I was caused was because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He and his wife had arranged to tour Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As the couple rode through Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, a man named Gavrilo Princip fired two shots at them. …show more content…
Even though this was the main reason it wasn’t the only reason World War I started. There are four other reasons for the start of World War I which include: Nationalism, The Alliance System, Imperialism, and Militarism. These sparked a chain of events which led to Austria-Hungary blaming the Serbian government for the attack which then led to an Austro-Hungarian declaration of war which was delayed until its leader received assurances from the German leader Kaiser Wilhelm that Germany would support their cause.     World War One started for two main reasons: the alliances of Europe and many countries, and what really set off the war, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.     In this essay we are going to talk about World War I and its causes. World War I —also known as “the war to end all the wars”— was a war that started in 1914 and ended in 1919. It began in Europe, giving as result the blood of thousands of innocents and people implied in the war. Besides the many human losses, there was little loss or win of land, which doesn’t matter much compared to all the damages given by it.
