Cause And Effect Essay: The Great Chicago Fire
The Great Chicago Fire burned for two days straight. From October eighth to October tenth, 1871. There are so many questions people ask about the fire. Such as "What caused it to burn out of control?" People can ask about "The effects the fire had on the city and its residents." too. Plus, people ask "What happened in the aftermath of the fire?" Those question, will be answered in this article.
The first question that will be covered is "What caused the fire to burn out of control?" There are all too many theories that people have come up with over the years. Legend has it that an O'Leary cow kicked over a lantern, and that was what caused the fire. But, some people disagree with that statement, and others agree. ", but other theories hold that humans or even a meteor might have been responsible for the event that left an area of about four miles long and almost a mile wide of the Windy City, including its business district, in ruins." (History.com) There also could have been other factors that caused such a horrid fire, these factors could include a dry streak of lightning. But, the main factor that caused it to burn out of control was the wind. That is now why Chicago is called the windy city.
