Case Study: Tata Sky
Tata Sky is a direct broadcast satellite television provider in India, usingMPEG-4 digital compression technology, transmitting using INSAT-4A andGSAT-10 satellite. Incorporated in 2004, Tata Sky is a Joint venture between the Tata Group and 21st Century Fox
Its primary competitors in satellite television and other DTH service providers are – Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, Sun Direct, Reliance Digital TV, DD Direct+and Videocon D2H.
It currently offers 400+ SD channels and 68 HD channels and services along with other many active services (as of April 2016). Recently, Tata Sky has entered into an agreement with French firm Technicolor to supply 4K set top boxes from early 2015.

TBSS offers Tata Sky Customer Care services right from managing Customer queries and complaints to Customer retention along with Back Office integration. TBSS also provides support for Installation and activation of DTH Connections, Tata Sky Partner support and Campaign management i.e. Cross selling and Up selling of products and services.

HISTORY
Tata Sky is an equity strategic alliance in the nature of joint venture between the Tata Group and 21st Century Fox, which own 70% and 20% stake respectively. In 2008, Singapore-based Temasek Holdings picked up 10% stake in Tata Sky from the Tata Group. Tata Sky was incorporated in 2004 but was launched only in 2006.
STAR’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, owns an International group of DTH businesses that include Sky Italia in Italy and Sky in United Kingdom. The company uses the Sky brand owned by British Sky Broadcasting.
On 9 January 2015, Tata Sky became the first Indian DTH operator to offer 4K set-top-boxes to its consumers.
